Remote Start on 2013 Mustangs

Hi,
My Factory Remote Start has this annoying feature which shuts the engine down when the door is opened when the Remote Start is used.

I do have the Forum provided "Fix" for it, requiring a slim twelve-year old to hang upside down under the dash, hitting a button awaiting horn beeps or LED flashes or something.
I understand "After-Market- Remotes work normally.

My question is, -Has Ford eliminated this annoyance on the 2013 Mustangs with Remote Start?

Thanks

Unfortunately, no. I had to do the "Fix" to my 2013 GT and now I use the remote start ALL the time. It only takes about 10 minutes to reprogram, if that. The hardest part is finding the button to push. I need to take pictures and post them as I was timid about what I was doing at the time.

Please do post pics, if you get a chance. I find this one of the more annoying features of my new Mustang. I'm sure there's some reason for this, but I'm less sure it's a good reason.

Why would the remote start turn the engine off when the door is opened?

Oh, I know the answer, someone remote started then drove 13 miles to a bar, had 10 drinks, then later had an accident and sued Ford and won.

Obviously had the remote start shut off the car before the driver entered, the entire incident could not have occurred.

(And yes, that's sarcasm)

Unless the reprogram is pretty easy, to me that makes the feature completely useless.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.

Is there a link for the "FIX" ? I ordered my new 13 with remote start and would suck if the thing shuts off when you open the door...it kinda defeats the purpose having remote start....

That would have been a nice option but, ehh, I've lived without it. Was lucky enough to just find one close to what I initially wanted within 900 miles.

The fix doesn't sound too bad.

Hi
This is the link to FIX the remote.
It was sent to me by BLKANDGUD shorthly after I picked up my 2012 in May 2011.

Refer to this post here. It helped me out.

The trick is, IGNORE THAT LED THING! It's what threw me off the most. I can make an easy version of it for you.

-Reach under the dash, find the button to put the car into programming mode. The button will be accessed with your left hand.
-When you find it, turn your key into "on" mode, not starting the engine. Simotanesously, hold the brakes down as well as that button for about 10-15 secs til you hear 3 honks.
-Press the button again (don't hold it). You'll hear 4 beeps, press the button again, you'll hear 5 beeps Stay with that option
-Hit the brakes until you hear it honk 7 times in a row. After it beeps 7 times after pressing the brakes, with the Remote start Fob, tap the button with the key logo ONCE. DON'T HOLD IT! Literally, you should just tap it so that you see the red light on the remote fob light up for about a "One-Mississippi" and that's it.

Press the brake again to hear 8 honks. Take out the key. Now when you press the remote start, it should start up and that "engine shutting off when you open the door" thing will go away and remote start will be USEFUL! I've been using mine all the time now and makes the feature worth it. However, it disable mykey, i don't really care about that.

While I'm sure the above method works, it sounds like a joke intended to make all your neighbors to hate you. That's a lot of horn honking.

when the horn sounds, it's very subdued and quick. it's not a full blast of the horn.

Thanks for reposting that haha. I was actually going to post that to him. Yeah, I found it to be simple using this technique. The other ones in the internet make it seem like rocket science.

Use your left hand, and then maybe reach underneath the dash (almost near where the ambient light is) and look out for a button. The button is attached on a hose like structure (imagine if an ink pen had a button on the end of it, it's kinda like that) that's the button you'll need.

Why Ford programmed it that way, I'll never know. I thought it was for security reasons, but when you hit the remote start button, it automatically locks the doors. And I believe if you don't get in the car, it'll shut itself off after 10 mins.

Ok, so you reprogram the remote start. Now, can you put the key into the ignition and turn it to the accessory position(not too far as to engage starter), and drive off? This what I saw done in a new ZL1 camaro. Or what is procedure to drive car in gear?:?:
