Tuner on order ;)

Just to spite OracleHCR

Just placed the order for the SCT Tuner from American Muscle. $361.00 bucks shipped isn't to shabby!

Very good people to do business with. Talked with them on the Phone and they were very helpful and informative.

Same thing here.

Now I'm waiting for delivery. They were hoping they were going to get it loaded and in the mail today.

I hate waiting.

Only bought the tuner. From what I have gathered on here is the CAI's dont do much if anything and that the factory air box does quit well.

You know, I've read this as well, but what doesn't make sense to me is, Steeda says absolutely do not run their CAI on a stock tune since it will run lean (more air) and Airraid includes a reducer to use their CAI on a stock tune. Wouldn't this lead you to believe that if they make the car lean with out a tune, that with a tune (more fuel) you would make more power than the stock intake?

To my knowledge, however limited, Steeda is the only company who makes one that requires a tune. I'm also going to order a tuner shortly and then the Steeda somewhere down the line. Most likely around September. Maybe I'll do dyno runs at the local speed shop (3 pulls for $75).

I think the Steeda moves the MAF sensor, so it needs a tune. Are you worried about the #8 failure with a tune?

No because the tune would just bring the reduced CAI back to it's operating potential that they reduced in the first place. So it would be eqivalent to the Stock air box with the tune, give or take a hp.

From what I've read, tuners actually lean-out the engine, not add more fuel. You should actually get better MPGs with a tune, not worse. But no one can keep their foot out of it, so no one ever notices.

Really? Another tuner thread?

I'm close to pulling the trigger myself. Just trying to decide between Bama and Steeda.

There are multiple companies that make Tune Only CAIs.

Make sure you guys follow the instructions that come from BAMA for the handheld. Do all PC updates before it even gets plugged into the car.

FYI if you guys do get a CAI, DO NOT waste your money on one that does not require a tune.

I highly recommend the steeda one if you do.

If he goes with a good tuner that won't go too lean at WOT he should have no issues..
