oooo!!! got him! haha just by the way your asking us and saying "credit" i would not be buy gauges if i were you. Save your money till you can buy them out right. But if i got gauges i would like a oil pressure, vac/boost, air/fuel,
But i dont see why a volt meter is neccessary. It either starts the car easy or it doesnt. Gauge wont fix that nor will it help you see it coming. It wont damage your engine either if it dies like other things.
Oil pressure is #1 for me. I recently installed an Autometer electric oil pressure gauge in my '14 GT. The 5.0 has the widest swings in oil pressure I've ever seen in a stock production engine. With 5W30 Mobil 1 it has 100 psi on a cold start and 26 psi at a hot idle. 82 psi at typical interstate speeds, and back to around a 100 psi at redline.
I agree on the oil pressure. I have a GT Premium and the trac apps pkg. Has an oil temp guage and a digital (oil pressure"normal") readout but that's it. Where did you tap into for the oil pressure guage??
so what good is monitoring oil pressure do? ya can't adjust it other than by changing it (or type) and you should never beat on a cold engine anyways.
+1 on if you don't have much $ to not waste it on gauges = .02 worth of opinion
back to the orig ?...the only must have is a fuel gauge but since I tend to buy gas when the light comes on even that is a waste. Old school and shift by sound and tend to ignore speed limits so the two big dials are kinda moot.
Well I ended up buying computer parts instead... The reason is I need to build up my credit again after my ex cheated on me (didn't know till after I maxed out everything to move back to her). The Voltmeter is good to have if you sit in the car listening all day waiting for your wife to get off work and go to start the car up and the battery is dead. Also it can tell you if the battery is holding a charge. I was going to get the Boss style gauge pod cause that little indent in the dash is useless as a holder.
Two responces. First to bodon. You can tap into the oil gallery just to the rear side of the oil filter housing. This is where the factory sender is located. You MUST retain the factory sender otherwise the computer will probably lose it's electronic mind thinking that the engine dosen't have any oil pressure. You can use a 1/4 in. npt "T" fitting for this. Generally you can find the fittings at NAPA or OReillys. If you want more detailed information PM me and I will explain the installation completely. Second to Strange Mud. I think it is useful to have baseline information in a lot of areas and oil pressure is certainly one of them. Since my car is fairly new, has low mileage and is running fine I think it's fair to assume that the pressures it is showing are normal. If they should drop in the future and I am still using the same weight oil then it may well be cause for concern. A little drop in pressure may not be enough to cause the computer to trip a warning, but I would like to know about it before any [more] damage is done. This is also a good way to see what effect different weight oils has and how much pressure drop can be expected due to the increased heat from hard running. Different brands of oil filters can also affect oil pressure. I understand that not everyone wants or needs this kind of information, but I feel better having it.
My point was to get individual gauges, only 3 actually but yeah, that one that shows multiple gauges on one pod I was thinking of getting too maybe put that in the vent while the other 3 were in the boss style center pods... I knew that the multi gauge one shows a lot at once but not everything at once so that's where the individual gauges would come in play... My Mustang GT is like the bare minimum you can get, no center screen in the gauge pod (or if all came with that, I can't access it). So, getting the normal gauges you would get in any older car would be a huge plus. I was just wondering what everyone else runs with...
if you got 1 areoforce gauge you can see 2 at a time and itll cycle through 4 different screens, so thats 8 things itll cycle through. you can make it cycle faster or slower. you can keep the top or bottom one the same through all screens if you wanted, or change them all.
That is one thing I don't understand about Ford. You have a performance car but in the base model you only get a coolant temp gauge and a tach as extras? No voltmeter or oil pressure at minimum. My chevy truck has these at least.
