I'm having a little pity party, but just want to chat with some fellow mustang folks who might feel the same as I do about Mustangs.
1. I originally bought my car when it was 2 years old with low miles. I got a smokin' deal from a fellow mustang owner and just couldn't pass up on the deal. Since the car is a V6 and auto my plan was to use the car as a commuter, which I've done. I've modded it as far as you can and my next step is to add a procharger.
2. I recently bought a travel trailer and F150. To my surprise I really enjoy driving the truck everyday. As such, I've decided to turn the mustang into a bracket racer after I do the procharger. Eventually getting proper tires, rims, cage, etc to make it safe and consistent at the track.
3. However, I have a balance on the wife's minivan that could get paid off with the sale of the mustang. I will probably get back exactly what I paid for the car 3 years ago. See, I got a good deal.
4. I'm retiring from the military in 3 years. Selling the mustang and paying off the minivan will allow me to pay off the truck and trailer prior to retirement, along with saving for a house down payment.
5. I can keep the car and still pay off the truck and trailer, I just won't get the 20% down I want to save. Or vice versa, I can save more and still have a truck/trailer payment upon retirement and at this point who knows what job I'll have in 3 years.
6. If I sell, this will be the first time in 15 years I haven't had a late model mustang. It will be at least 5 years before I'm in a position to buy another mustang, probably a '13 Boss or '16 GT350. I'll still have my '69 to play with. But I'll be 50 years old, ugh
I know the proper financial answer is to sell the mustang and leave the military without any car debt and save as much money as possible. I'm just struggling with the emotional side of not having the car. I really like the grabber blue and how the car looks. It performs and handles great and I love the idea of what the procharger will bring with the sleeper side of the V6.
Anyways, nothing to really say or ask. I'm in a position many people would envy, so I guess it is 1st world problems. I just like mustangs and everybody knows me as a mustang guy.
