I guess someone needs to define drone. My perception of drone would be a constant tone that follows engine speed and load. Something that creates a resonance or vibration within the car. A noise that is irritating and uncomfortable for driver and passenger.
Are the Borla's loud - answer is yes
Do you hear them when accelerating during normal operation - Yes
Do they get louder with increased acceleration - Yes
Can you hear them at freeway speeds - Yes
Are they tolerable cruising - Yes but almost silent
Are they tolerable at freeway speeds - Yes and almost silent
Do they Drone by my definition - NO
I have the S Type. They are a bit loud for my taste in normal driving but when running the freeway they are just fine. I can hear the radio fine, talk on the phone and to the passenger. I can actually hear road noise above the mufflers. If you mash the go pedal, they bark loud and get attention.
Also keep in mind when you listen to any exhaust demo that if they state they are using "cat backs" the sound will be much different that a axle back.
Edit -- I think it would be wise to sticky a Drone section with a picture of one so everyone knows what to look for.
