Default Oil Change - Location of Drain Plug

So I went to do my oil change this evening but I couldn't find the drain plug for the oil.

I looked on the forums to see if I could find a good picture of its location but came up still confused.

So where is the oil drain plug exactly? Driver Side / Passenger Side? Etc?

Gah the pains of learning a new car....Thanks in advance.

Yes, what you have pictured is the drain plug. As mentioned it is at the rear of the oil pan on the passenger side.

That's it. Don't forget to replace the drain plug with:

2011-12 Mustangs take F107x valves. F107N has a nipple for a hose so the oil can go straight into the catch pan without splatter or having to "chase" the stream.

Engin Oil Drain Valve - Fumoto Engineering

Thanks guys on confirming the oil plug.

YAY got the oil change completed before it down poured on me.

Used a set of Rhino Ramps in the front tires and the rest was easy!!

Used the Pennzoil Ultra 5w-20 Full Synthetic Pennzoil - Not just oil, Pennzoil®

Hopefully it stands up to the hype they made out of it.

Not to stress you out, but I was disappointed and annoyed to find out that Pennzoil Ultra 5w20 does not meet the current ford spec for our Mustang's oil but Pennzoil Platinum does.

Please elaborate. The Ultra was supposed to be better than the Platinum one. No prob - not stressing me out - should work fine since its same 5w20 on weight.

Your owners manual says oil should meet ford spec:
WSS-M2C945-A

The pennzoil ultra 'only' meets ford spec:
WSS-M2C930-A

which is the older ford 5w-20 spec.

you are right that it should work fine, but its still annoys me.

I'm using Ultra too, and wouldn't worry about it in a 2012 Mustang either.

The old WSS-M2C-930-A Ford spec is for the last generation API SM/GF-4 5W20 motor oil. The new API SN/GF-5 5W20 motor oil is now listed under Ford's WSS-M2C945-A specification. Ford just revised the spec to reflect the API SM-to-SN transition.

I believe Ultra wasn't submitted for the new spec, because it was formulated in large part for the European market. I read somewhere that Ultra would meet the new specification if it were submitted.
