2012 V6 Speed Limiter removal with SCT Flash Tuner

Hello all,

Quick question. I have a 2012 v6, got the Airaid CAI/Sf3 tuner combo from AM, and everything's awesome, but the governor still kicks in at 114 mph. Not that I necessarily want or need to go faster, (yes, I understand, speed kills, don't waste a car/life etc. blah blah blah) but I was under the assumption that the tuner nixed the governor. How do I remove it? I saw under custom tunes/additional options it allows you to set a speed limit, highest being 125. I selected the option "No speed limit" and still was held back once I hit 114. Is there a way to just remove it altogether using the tuner/tunes? I know, you need tires rated for __ speed, etc, no, I DON'T plan on going 140mph or anything.. Just want the limiter GONE!

Upgrade your driveshaft first.

You're extremely impatient. Forum time says you waited less than an hour for a response?

Fair warning: People have had their driveshafts snap from simply removing the speed limit and driving over it. No other modifications besides the tune. You risk your life, and others, knowingly if you continue down this route.

I'm impatient how, exactly? The time between my original post and my reply to the first response has nothing to do with what my response stated, I'm merely tired of getting the "I'm your father, I'm concerned for your safety" response. So, thanks for also adding to the string of ridiculous replies that only further encourage me to seek others out in a response to my QUESTION. Again, I stated above in the actual thread that I have no intention of going PAST a certain speed, I would only like to know that the limiter is removed.

I appreciate your concern, truly I do, but as I've already mentioned, I'm not in pursuit of a father figure, as I already have one and have no desire to wreck my vehicle, my life, or anyone else's. I have cruise control set to 67 on my way to/from work every day, and the speed limit is 65. WOW! I'm just asking for trouble, aren't I? Oh.. wait.. I'm being impatient, correct? ;D

you can manually go in and take it off under the ADJUST SETTINGS on the device

It's as simple as plugging in you tuner, find speed limit, and turning it off...just dont hit 120 in a crowded area...

I tried that the first time I tuned it, like I said, but unfortunately it didn't seem to work. I just wanted to see if it had, hit 114, and nope, hadn't. So I guess I'll just try again! Thanks, ya'll!

z rated tires. im using sumitomo 255-18 (idk if they are z rated) from AM and ive hit 138 and it was smooth.

People do tend to answer questions that weren't asked, I suppose they mean well....

There seem to be more people around this forum that haven't had trouble with their driveshafts than those that have, I believe 2 failed on a dyno (1 was supercharged) and 1 failed on the street. Then of course we have the infamous youtube video with very little info, that everyone jumps all over it like sharks on chum!

Get a couple of safety hoops and you should be golden.

As for your original question, yes go back to the people who supplied the tune and get them to send you a new file. Tell them to check it too, you don't any screw ups with timing etc.

Never argue with an idiot........They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

EASY fellas! I dont have an answer for you OP, other than just call SCT. Did you feel a power increase/throttle response from the tune? Im just wondering if there was a tune loaded at all to begin with.

OT, but isn't it ironic as hell that we have 2 threads today, one about going over the limiter without a tune, and one about NOT going over the limiter WITH the tune.....

I assumed those who had experience with similar vehicles/tuners would be willing to share advice pertaining towards my question (as three people later did ) when posted in a public forum. Personally, I don't give a **** what you do. The point you are missing is that, in their own way, people are trying to help you; you're just too arrogant to see it.

Ford put the limiter on the car for a reason. One suspect part is the driveshaft. People are pointing out some caveats to removing the limiter.

Forums are comprised of people with all sorts of people whose experience varies from expert to none. Most would appreciate the advice, whether they choose to use it or not.
