Turtle Wax Ice + 2013 Mustang = Awakened Monster.

Prior to storing my one month old Mustang for the winter, I washed it, then used some detailer to clean up the water spots, and then used TW Ice to put a quick coat of wax on it. Total time was under 2 hours. I HATE washing and waxing, so this is the perfect regimen for me.

Anyhow, after seeing how easy it was to use TW Ice, I tried some on my truck tailgate. My truck is 13 years old, has been washed about 5 times ever, and NEVER waxed. I was amazed at how good the tailgate looked.

So, Yesterday, I took it to a carwash, and then did the whole truck with the Turtle Wax, and it looks good. It brought back the metalic finish quite well, and it looks like pictures I've seen of Kona Blue Mustangs that have that purple look in the sun, but dark blue at night or on cloudy days.

When I was a youger man in my 20's, I spent hours and hours detailing my car in an effort to impress dumb young women. The older I got, the less I cared about my car, and haven't washed or waxed a car in over a decade. Now, with the new Mustang, and seeing my truck shiny, that inner demon of car detailing is rearing it's ugly head. I must resist it....lol.

So, here's a question: Do you think a cleaner used with an orbital buffer would bring back the clear coat on my truck, or is it too far gone after 13 years of neglect? I know that nobody can give a definitive answer, but what is your gut feeling, or past experience?

I can, for certain answer your question as I worked for Turtle Wax for over 6 years and tried many competitors and brought life back into heavily faded cars and trucks. You can do it, but the dullness will slowly come back since the clear coat has degraded. I would recommend a good dual action random orbital. I got mine at Griots Garage website. I use Zaino show car products even on an '06 used F250 I bought last year and the results were of course impressive. I have never used the ice product although it does get good reviews. I used one of their detail products that was not available to the public which I believe what to be the ice product now.
You will need a good cleaner polish to start or compound depending upon how faded. Tru a section with less aggressive and get more aggressive from there if need be.
The polisher is the key.... Clay bar the vehicle first for ultimate results. I clay bar and put a sealer 'wax' polish on new cars ASAP.

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck.

look up chemical guys... you are going to need way more then just throwing a coat of wax on. I would suggest calling them and talking to em. MY dad did it and ended up being on the phone for 45 minutes. He gave us instructions on the order and how and why to use it. And the results are astounding

I have a bottle of the old ICE..and I killed it almost fully. I picked up a new bottle two days ago and the stuff is even better. granted I still wax my car. I really love the ice on my Jeep Cherokee. I have all my fender flares painted with bed liner and nothing but ice cleans them and gets mud stains out. Its good stuff for sure.

Hahahahaha.......

Unfortunately, I didn't take any before pictures. Today, it's cloudy outside, and now it's getting dark. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so I'll snap a couple of pix.

Coming out of work today, I was amazed at how nice my old, starting to rust a little, 167K mile F-150 looked. I had forgotten just how much I like the color on a cloudy day where it has the deep dark Kona/Deep Impact blue. I'm still not thrilled that the wash and wax has brought back the purple hue in the metalic though...
