How will Magnaflow Catbacks affect MPG?

I have an Airaid CAi with Bama 87S tube and I get equal if not slightly better gas mileage than I did stock. How will adding a magnaflow catback affect this? What about BBK throttle body? Headers? Thanks for your help! I'm trying to stay above 30 mpg highway.

It's funny your asking about power adders and wondering about gas mileage...
I know for a fact the Magnaflow Cat Backs won't change it one way or the other. The TB and LT Headers will require a tune change, and at the least probably a slight dip in mpg's. But I'll let those with the bigger TB and headers chime in on those.

I can almost say without a doubt your MPGs will go down. Just because you will want to hear it sing all the time. :-p

TBs don't require tunes and don't hinder MPGs

CAI and a Tune are really the only 2 Mods that are really benefical to your Gas Mileage. However, since a Throttle Body and Headers require a tune because of the amount of air you'll be getting, you could see a slight increase!

Your MPG are going to be at the mercy of your right foot!

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance.

Honestly, I think each mod I've done other than gears and wheels have improved my overall mpgs. I can still come close to the factory rated fuel economy despite having 3.73 gears. Like others said, since the car's personality changes, it changes how you drive it. That is why most people report lower numbers. However, if you remain disciplined you can still do very well. I haven't put headers on yet, but do have intake, TB, full catback and a tune. My last highway drive netted 29.06mpg.

Thanks for all your input guys. I won't plan on doing headers for quite some time, that'll be one of the last. HOGASSWILD I can't believe you still get 29 mpg with the 3.73 gears that's awesome! Making me reconsider putting off gears.

By the way guys, how do I quote what someone says? Newb problems. Lol

I got Magnaflows Competition series Cat-Backs and they increased my MPGs slightly. I went from about 18 mpgs combined city and highway to 20-22 mpgs just with the exhaust alone. Then adding a Cai went up to 23 mpgs, but I'm also trying not to punch it all the time

Oh I love it! I just wish the Competition Cats were muffler deletes like the Axles. That was my only issue. Luckily I got the Cats for cheaper than the Axles cause of a special deal another website was doing at the time and I had AM price match it! Got it for about $420-430.

I feel once you start modding your car...MPG begin to be your last thought. You start looking for ways to make the car faster, more powerful, nicer looking, and nothing like a stock stang.
