Default Bama tune in Sport Mode?

I remember reading something a while back saying that the bama tune only reprogrammed the D mode and that switching to Sport mode removed the tune.

Is this true? I tried searching, but there are too many articles with the words bama, tune, and sport.

Thanks guys!

Sport mode as in transmission manual mode?

Shouldn't have any affect on the engine tuning from Bama, just would defeat the transmission settings which are defeated anyway since it would be in manual mode.

Best thing would be to call Bama and ask them to get the particulars.

I was told by bama that engaging hill assist on my '11 Auto would use completely different shift tables than the bama tunes I had loaded. Perhaps the same concept applies to sport mode.

I didnt know auto's had hill assist? I thought just sport mode. But yea, thats what I read in a thread a couple of months ago; the tune only affects the D mode.

It would never "remove" the tune, but the tune would be temporarily not in control of the transmissions shifting until you put it back in "D". The ECU can not hold a custom tune and the Factory tune at the same time.
Hill assist in 2012 and earlier just removes 6th gear and holds on to gears a little longer. Shift firmness goes unchanged when engaged.

It would be great is if they could tune Select Shift so it actually engaged faster like they can dial in the Auto "D" selection! The 500 or so rpm lag in shifting makes it useless for racing. If it were consistent at 500rpm lag or whatever that would be something you could work with but it is inconsistent in my experience.

Sounds like you 2013+ guys need to call the Bama tuners. I haven't heard that one asked, but it doesn't apply to me so maybe I just wasn't paying attention when it was.

To clarify we are talking about the select shift feature on the shifter?
Because sport mode on my 2013 auto has to do with the traction control system. When you press the traction control button 2 quick times sport mode is enabled.

Not on your 2013. Sport mode is when you pull the shifter all the way back to "S" and "Sport Mode" will show up in your center display. That gives you a different transmission tune or you can shift for yourself with the +/- button.

Pushing TCS twice in 2011 & 12 engaged something like sport mode that turned off Advance Track but 2013 & 14 is different.

To turn TCS and Advance Track off in 2013 + you hold the brake pedal down and hold the TCS button for 5 seconds. Your center display will confirm "Advance Track OFF". You can do that in either D or S.

I haven't tried to much lately but Brian had it to where I wouldn't want to select shift in a curve. It was quick and firm...too firm. That was last year though.

Is it a performance package car? If not...I wasn't aware of this two quick press setting.

Yes it does on the 2013 auto (with performance package) also, press traction button twice turns off advance track, sport mode on. I turn it on everyday when I first start the car up to drive to work. Get the display in the dash that says it does just that.

I have yet to turn all the "nannies" off yet, so thanks for the heads up on how to do it.

I'm going to put it in S today when I get home to see what comes up. I know the function, manual shifting via the + or - but want to see what it says on the dash.

Putting the vehicle in sport mode ONLY turns off the overdrive and allow for manual shifting. It does NOT turn off the tune. I repeat.... it DOES NOT turn off the tune....
