Top Speed 2014 V-6

Is the top speed of the 2014 V-6 known? The 2013 had a limit of 112 MPH due to the one piece drive shaft, unlike the two piece drive shaft of the V-8. The 2014 V-6 has a two piece drive shaft and so I would think the limiter would be gone. No, I haven't tried it out, yet. Would like to know, can't find any published information.

Does the 2014 V6 have a two piece??? I was pretty sure it was the same as the 2013 and would break at the 130mph range.

Two piece, standing under it while installing Borla Exhaust. Car & Driver 2013 review says 112 because of one piece.

My V6 had a one piece driveshaft, but in reality, there are two pieces, one attached to the transmission, and the other attached to the rear end. In the middle was a sliding interface that was formed into a type of interlocking gear, covered by a flexible boot. This allows the drive shaft to lengthen and shorten, as required.

The V8 mustangs have a two piece drive shaft with a bearing block in the center of the drive shaft. This bearing block is attached to the frame.

Most of the aftermarket "one piece" drive shafts, move the sliding connection over to the side nearest the rear end. But they also must be designed to allow the driveshaft to change length when the pinion angle of the rear end changes.

Are you sure you have a true two piece drive shaft, with a bearing block in the middle like the V8s have? or are you looking at the slider?

With your information I don't know, I'll have to get back up into the air again. The service person printed out a drawing for the V-6 2014 and V-8 drive shafts. Thank you for your response, I'll get back to you.

It should have a slip joint in the middle. And that's where it tends to break. My understanding is that it's pretty rare that it happens though.

One of our forum members got his v6 up to 150 mph on the autobaun. He also had a 5.0 and said its top speed is about the same, it just gets up there quicker. These cars will move, if you have a tune and enough space to open up the top end.

Damn the driveshaft, full speed ahead!

Dealer service says one piece drive shaft, top speed still unknown, no where to try it.

It still has a slip joint in the middle, exactly where it shouldn't be.

Can you folks clarify? Seems there may be some backwards info here. Isn't the 2 piece the one that's unstable and a 1 piece more stable?

Ours is technically a one piece but in reality it's two pieces. It's not a two piece in the sense that a GT driveshaft is which has a carrier bearing between two shorter driveshafts.
