Anyone else having really bad bluetooth issues after the latest SYNC update (1-2 months ago)? My phone never wants to connect and when it does it will eventually disconnect after just a few minutes. Getting it to reconnect after disconnecting is a nightmare, so much that I sometimes have to pull my car over, turn it off and open the door, and then start it again.
I'm using a stock Nexus 6 with Lollipop 5.1. I've done a SYNC master reset, deleted my device, and I've also disconnected my battery for 30 minutes but the problem persists. I can't get to the SYNC fuse (who the hell thought putting it there was a good idea?)
Have you tried a soft reset on your phone? It’s a good practice whenever you update SYNC. Press and hold the POWER button for 10-20 seconds; the device will restart and go through the boot-up sequence. If this doesn’t work, please send a PM with your VIN. I can look into this for you.
I had similar problems with that update. Since I still had the downloaded file I tried a re-installation of the update. Initially this seemed to work but the next day it was back to it's old habits, the most annoying of which was its refusal to play a requested track, it would randomly play something else instead, whether I used the voice commands or the dash controls. After a while, and not being able to get a dealer appointment right away, I tried another re-installation only this time I left the USB stick in place for a good 15 - 20 minutes after it said installation complete on the display. The other thing I did differently is I hit "OK" before I removed the USB drive.
So far (about two weeks now) the update seems to still be working OK, so I've put off my dealer appointment for now. With respect to resuming Bluetooth after an ignition off / on, that still only works about 50-60% of the time. Sometimes it will still default back to USB or the radio. If I was listening to a podcast, it will sometimes resume the BT connection but start playing music from my phone instead of resuming the podcast (iPhone 6). Now at least it will play the correct tracks when selected.
i have this problem too. i have to disconnect the battery everytime.
