Also, in addition to my previous post, Ive looked at Fortin brand remote starts that use the 3X Lock method, but I have a bad habit of hitting the lock button several times when I get out of the car. My factory remotes (as I've posted here before) aren't the best in terms of range, so sometimes I have to hit it a few times for it to work. Im not so much concerned with range for the remote start, its more the look and feel of the remote that I'm concerned with. And not having to carry around another bulky item on my keys.
Not sure if the remotes I am attaching a picture of is to bulky for you, but it replaces the need of the factory remote so that should help. The one with the screen is for your primary key and the other is a 2nd one for your secondary key. You could use either for primary just the screen remote has many more options and features for daily use. Anyway I have this system and it is a remote start and alarm in 1. I am sure you could get just the remote start. Anyway great system with long range 1-2 mile reach to start, lock, unlock, roll windows down, and etc. Also you can get an app that will let you do all these features including start the car from anywhere in the world so unlimited range as long as you have a date or wifi connection on your cell phone or a device that can connect like iPads or laptops.
I would defiantly recommend this as I have been using this system now for around 5 years and minimal complaints out of it.
Let me know if this is something you are interested in and I would be glad to answer any questions to help out.
CompuSTAR is the name of the system and Drone Mobile is the name of the app you can download for free and check out the features.
I love the factory option remote start on my 2011 v6. It sure felt good getting in a nice heated Mustang yesterday morning coolbeans.gif. It does shut itself off after 5 minutes or so but on the second start its nice and warm. Good luck on your quest
MustangLife, I like that, but I don't like that I would have to carry around my key (which has the factory remote built in) AND another remote. Thats what I was trying to bypass. I found some of the other Fords that aren't mustangs that have a similar key, they have a remote start button in the center of the remote. Between the keys for unlock, lock, trunk, and alarm. Thats what I was looking for.
