Default Fix for 2011 Mustang GT engine tick

I just got done installing my kooks headers with o/r x pipe and no longer have the engine tick at idle. Im very happy in two ways 1. tick is gone 2. this thing is a beast and sounds like it as well

Ive had the tick (which sounds like the lifter tick) since day 1. To me its always sounded like an exhaust leak. I wonder if thats why Ford cant seem to find a fix since they think its internal. Both times Ive had it in they wouldnt look at the exhaust though Ive specifically told them it sounded like a possible exhaust leak from the headers.

Did you by any chance rev up the car next to a wall to verify the tick is gone? Im wondering if I should get under and/or in there and check all the header bolts to see if they're tight. Seeing as they forgot to plug in the foglight harness from the factory it wouldn't surprise me if the headers are loose, missing a bolt or they forgot gaskets. I juts hope there isn't a crack. I'm ready to call Ford corporate and tell em this tick is ******** and needs to be resolved.

An engine stethoscope should quickly locate the noise if its a manifold leak. Internal noises are harder to pin down.

Is this tick no longer a problem on recently built mustangs? I recently ordered mine and should have it in a week or 2.

Aside from the unwanted noise, nothing ive read yet indicates this is a major problem. They will probably tell you it is a normal sound. Keep us updated if you do contact them

Well my theory is shot! I heard the tick again today but it comes and goes now. Before it was constant now it comes and goes.

Hi RaceRed50 and gjdarrow1483,

It is very unfortunate that you are having this issue with your Mustangs. I would be happy to help in any way I can. Please feel free to send me further information along with your VIN by private message.

Hopefully your problems will get resolved soon.

Please keep us posted as to the assistence you receive from Ford Cust Svc.

Still waiting to see if they issues a TSB for the problem some of you have.

Holding off on my oil change 1000 miles because of all I have read...

That is not right that I need to wait for fear of having the tick because I changed my oil...

Good luck

I have wondered all along if the tick (or at least one of them as described) didn't have something to do with the headers. They are different on the F-150s and they have no tick. The OP may be on to something here.

I will post up a video over the weekend when i have time. I dont see how they can void my warranty because of mods. Ive had the tick since day one and was not fault of aftermaket parts. My slave cylinder went out at 6000 miles wich they replaced under warranty but still dont feel it totally fixed my problems. Im going to write a letter to ford about all of this as i feel it should be taken care of considering i spent $40,000 on a brand new car. Im pleased with the performance but i still have the feeling like i purchased a used car because of said problems

Reference the F150s, this might be true, but how do you know that already? How long have the 5.0s even been out on the F150?
