Boss 302 LS rear seat delete/cross brace- where is the aftermarket???

Most people know by now that the stock Boss 302 LS rear seat delete cross brace is prohibitively expensive to buy... something in the neighborhood of $3000. This is nice for the LS owners who deserve a bit of exclusivity for their dollars...but it stinks for us.
Is there any aftermarket alternative for this part yet?
Obviously, this is a worthwhile chasis mod...
I was going to make one myself out of 2x4s nailed together and spray painted red but I think this might be missing the point.
I disagree with this idea. If you really want a noticable improvement with the chassis/suspension, look into a Watts link. I think the rear cross brace is a cosmetic item, especially for a street car.
For a racecar, there would be a completely engineered chassis upgrade that would probable include the rear seat crossbrace though on it's own I don't see it's significance.
The rear seat deletes, however, have shown to offer a 30-40lb weight savings. JPC and Evolution Performance also offer delete options.

The Watts link is interesting...I have been looking at this.
My inclination is to stick with OEM parts where possible...but if these parts accomplish the same goals and the Watts link does it better, I'll take another look.
A few company's make sub frame connectors as well if your wanting less flex in the chassis. You can rear seat delete buy some sub frame connectors and call it a day. The most expensive part of it is the Welding the parts are realtively low cost unlinke the watts link.

There are rear seat delete kits available, but I haven't seen any aftermarket cross braces yet ... probably because it doesn't do anything.

I agree with him... Steeda makes a rear strut tower brace that would probably have a similar effect... and with subframe connectors you should be alright.... and the front strut tower brace of course.

Does that thing just bolt to the rear-parcel shelf or does it actually brace against something substantial? I imagine a roll bar will be more beneficial with less $$ spent
A good roll cage will also include a cross member that fits in trunk area. In conjunction with the rear seat area cross brace and the front strut brace you will have a super stiff chassis. I can't beleive the rear seat cross brace costs 3 grand.(maybe the WHOLE option package) It should cost around 500.00 at most.

... Don't use 2X4s!!!!!!!!!! Try dowel stock, like you hang your clothes on in a closet !! The brace is bolted to the car and not just panels. I recently removed the rear seat delete panels to see if my skis would fit -NO problemo. Then I checked to see if my giant collapsed 12"X12" X 5 foot showtime/picnic/race pop up tarp would fit...YES indeedy. And both with the passenger seat still useable. Point is , with out the rear panels in, there is a LOT of noise - fuel pumps, pumpkin whine and even more shotgunned pebbles sound from bottom of undercarriage. LOUD STUFF I should be able to fit 4 race tires/wheels in the car with me and my lady for track daze.. My 'Stang... a real work horse !
