Just curious to see if anyone has noticed a change in handling when going to a wider tire on a 9" wide Brembo wheel. I installed 2 Hankooks 275/40/19 tires on the rear and now the car feels loose and or sways a little in the rear at speeds above 80mph. It has lost it's "on rails" feeling at higher speeds. I still have the stock pirelis up front 255/40/19 as well. I'm thinking about going back to the stock tire size.

Might be because of the difference in tread but I doubt it would be that drastic. I'm assuming they balanced them?
That size tire isn't oversized for that wheel by much if at all although a 9.5 wheel would be better.
I would say if you plan on wheels down the road hang onto the 275's if you still have the 255's and get wheels and 2 more tires down the road on 9.5's 275/40/19 x4.
running mixed tires is never a great idea, if they have different speed ratings they shouldn't even be on the car Tire Speed Rating - Discount Tire
I'd put the stock ones back on
I have staggered tire sizes on my Cobra, but they are all the same tire brand/model, it handles great

How long have you had them installed?
I've noticed this feeling every time I get new tires, it usually goes away after a couple days when they wear a little.

Mixing tires like that is just a general no no. Different sizes, different brands, different ratings. All around no bueno. Put matching fronts on, or put back the stock rears.
I have matching 255/40r19's on the front and 295/35r20's on the back, and the car handles beautifully.
I always tell people(my customers mostly) not to focus on the size of the tires as much as the make and model of the tires. The 2cm difference in tire width is less important than the tire composition, tread design, and sidewall stiffness.
I have 275/40/19 tires all around on my Brembo wheels. The tires are Continental Extreme DW which are spectacular. Less sensitive to cold, rain, and feel more predictable at the limit of grip.

Yes they did balance them. I do plan on doing a wheel package later down the road, but not right now. I was just trying to maximize my off the line grip for now. Thx

They are Z rated tires, so that part should be ok. One thing I did notice is they are directional where as the Pirells are a Asymmetrical tread pattern. I was just trying to get my moneys worth out of those high dollar Pirells! LOL I normally buy a full set on when replacing tires, but they usually aren't this expensive!

You know that's funny because I had these put on at the last minute before taking a road trip and after 500mi and putting the air pressure to 33psi they are a little bit better.

Thanks to everyone for the input, it sounds like a matching set will get me back to normal. Since I can return the tires, I may go with a better brand too, either the Cont or Mich.

I run Yokohama AD08 275/35 all around with brembo wheels as well and I do notice degraded handling for an unknown reason.. These tires should kick the stock pirellis ass.
Had 285/35 on all 4 for a long time. I loved the grip, but the tramlining finally got the better of me so I switched to the stock 255/40's on the front, I haven't noticed much of a difference, other than a little more push into the corners.
Some summer tires do come with a disclaimer about the first few hundred miles, some kind of lubricant added to aid in the tires release from the mold. If you are tracking your car or doing SCCA events, you may notice the wider tire "roll" onto the sidewall with extreme loading, but highly doubt this is whats happening at 80+ MPH.
33 PSI may be to high, check your contact patch.
