Default Rear suspension question...

Does anyone know the purpose of the steel blocks bolted to the lower axle bracket? Is it a NVH deal? This is on a 2011 GT.

Pretty much. I removed mine when installing LCA relocation brackets.

Just for reference, this things weighed in at 4 lbs 15 ounces, might as well say 5 lbs off the car. Best way to lose 100 lbs is to find 1600 places to lose an ounce!

They are just above the rear bolt of the LCA on the inside. You can't miss them. Also, look at the thread about schooling the OP about the benefits of aftermarket LCAs. There is a video from Steeda in there that shows them.
