Default Coyote cooling: oil cooler and head mod?

This week my baby goes under the knife for the aluminator 11:1 swap. I of course want to protect my investment, ideas include the boss 302 oil cooler (claimed 22-30 degrees cooler oil temp) and possibly the mmr head mod. I did find a thread on another forum where BBR guys said they proved it does work, and fully support it. I can find it again and link it if anyone is interested.

So, anyone have either or both? Have some numbers for oil temps and/ or head temps by chance?

The oil cooler sounds good,as far as the MMR (MOD) we all asked MANY times for proof, numbers, stats,on there product,we got NOTHING but empty promises and to this date NO real facts, except always in stock and there phone number listed 50 times in a row, followed by always in stock, and still NO real proof, there are past threads on this, google them you can see for yourself,I would never do it on my stang.

I had been 50/50 on it. They only reason it was included in this thread if the support BBR had given it. Very on the fence for saying "well i could just do it while the motor is out" but also "is it throwing $200 away?"

I have the Boss oil cooler on my 12 GT. I do not have any numbers, but I do consider it cheap insurance. It took the mechanic at the Ford dealership about one hour total to install, and it was his first one. If you are doing the Aluminator, why not?

If you are going to go with the oil cooler upgrade, part # M-6642-MB, you should also get the BOSS radiator (that comes with the Track-Pack) part # M-8005-MBR installed while you are at it, as it has been said by many that the stock GT's radiator is over taxed with just the engine oil cooler when you track the car........No sense in making your coolant too hot just to bring your oil temp down...............Sean

I'd get a better radiator and the Boss 302 oil cooler. Do them at the same time obviously for installation purposes. That MMR mode is a travesty.

Are you going to be tracking the car? If so look into this radiator, Ford Racing 2005-2013 Mustang GT/BOSS 302 Extreme Duty Radiator Upgrade -- M-8005-MGT.

Also, I have the track package and my engine temp runs 190 F on the street, unless I am in stop and go traffic then it's 200 F. On the track it's 200 F all day long.

Not really. Maybe one play day if the even ever arose but its not common for me, just spirited driving.

I do live in las vegas and of course summer time we see 120F sometimes more out here. I just saw on a few other threads that since the oil cooler uses coolant, your heating the antifreeze. Is it nominal you think of is it just shifting the problem elsewhere?

Also, will be force induction as well, low boost of course on this motor.

I would like to do a radiator as well but if i use a larger one will it fit with my intercooler? And aside from that, my budget is about maxed out as it is.

Can't say if the larger radiator will work with the intercooler.

On the oil cooler using the radiator to cool the oil shifting the problem else where. I don't see it. I have temp gauge and my car runs 190 F on the streets it's 100 F here today. Also, I have RP ice in the radiator. Does RP Ice work, cant say for sure. I didn't have the gauges installed when I put the RP ice in.

You might want to ask Terry Reeves if he has any solutions. With 1,000+ horsepower on his Vortech car, he's obviously got have a different cooling core.
