That's the info I was looking for...

Quote:
I've got a 2003 FRPP catalog and p/n for Friction Modifier was M-19546-A.

In new catalog online it is ... CM-19546-A1
Ford Racing Performance Parts

Google either # and you will find that just about every Mustang parts store sells the stuff.

There should also still be a regular Ford part number for the exact same additive that you can get at any Ford dealer. The old number was C8AZ-19B546-A which has probably been superceeded.

Doug
Hpw do you get it in there now?

Any auto parts store sells the friction modifier too. All cars use the same stuff in limited slip differentials so it doesn't have to be Ford brand.

I took it to dealer to get them to add some, they turned me away . They said after this showed up in forums a few others have come to dealer asking for it, and they did add the friction modifier, but then Ford told them to stop via hotline. So boo. I don't really want to add it myself incase of future issues-- although the idea of a smooth transmission is tempting.

Thank goodness there is now another topic on this forum for exactly the same subject.

Good work.

Agree. Even if it was repeated information, others (such as myself) may not have seen the original thread.

I can understand Hotline telling dealers to turn people away from this. This doesn't seem like a proper fix. Seems more like a short term fix to keep some people happy. The synchros operate off of friction. Hell, one of the guys on one of the forums has already reported shifting problems in all gears now. I think the result lies in a different specification lubricant. As a warning, if you for some reason want to try a different gear lube, GL-5 can damage your transmission do to the large concentration of EP addatives (sulfer). Gear Lube specification (GL-4) is OK for manual transmissions.

No way should you use gear lube in the MT82. Way too heavy for it.

The lubricant that they use in them is closer to ATF than gear lube.

Its GL-4 75W90... Gear lube oil "weight" is not on the same scale as SAE "weight". So, a 75W90 is close to a SAE 50.

Here is proof:

As for the gear oil to engine oil comparison
Gear Lube and Gear Oil Ratings Basic Functions and Requirements

I know I am just a "guy" on the internet, so I understand you can't just trust anyone.

I think that is the wrong specification fluid.

Looked it up in the owners manual and it shows that spec next to the XT-11-QDC part number fluid but when you look that fluid up it shows a slightly different spec, WSS-M2C200-D2.

Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid

It is actually a 75W weight, I really didn't think it was that heavy.

Maybe the heavy weight is contributing to the sluggish shifting, especially when cold.

Not like the tremec tranny's that use ATF.

Oh well, bad day when you don't learn something new.

This is the part number listed... WSD-M2C200-C a 75W-90 synthetic oil.

Check out this link too. Fs must mean Fully Synthetic?
