Default What Is The Correct Manual Transmission Fluid??

Some folks are reporting rough shifting on their MT-82 manual tranny. The Owners Guide specifies "Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid XT-11-QDC".

The Motorcraft website and fluid chart specifies "Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid XT-M5-QS" which is a 75w90 GL-4.

So which one is it, and what is the factory fill?? Could this be a cause of the rough shifting??

XT-M5-QS is correct. I don't know what's up with the Owners Guide, but the Ford specification, WSD-M2C200-C, is correct and corresponds to the Ford part number XT-M5-QS not XT-11-QDC. Motorcraft states that the Dual Clutch fluid to only be used in the DPS6, which is the automatically operated manual in the Fiesta. Motorcraft does not provide any technical information on the fluid, so it's hard to tell how applicable the fluid is to the GL-4 75W90/WSD-M2C200-C.

and it's unlikely Ford filled with the wrong fluid at the factory, but this gives a lot of Net time for the conspiracy theorists....:nogrinner

I noted the discrepancy in the manual as well. There are tech specs on the (what I believe) is correct fluid (XT-M5-QS). Burried in the Motorcraft website under chemicals I think. I also think the factory stuff is of very good quality. The Visc Index was high (good) and kinematic Visc #'s for 40C and 100C were fairly low (good), but I am still changing it so I know what I have and not what I am guessing. Also changing the Diff fluid out too for Lubro Moly LS 75W140. Hard as a muther scratcher to find though...still looking actually.

What happens if you go by the owners manual and put the xt-11-qdc fluid in your tranny?

The service manual calls for XT-M5-QS, just a misprint in the owners guide.

What oil did Ford put in our transmissions?????

That's a good question. I havent seen any technical info on the dual-clutch fluid, so there is no way to make some-what of a guess.
