I have that exact same spray but I don't even want to try it on mine in worry that the cold weather will freeze it or it will dry the bushings out more. If that's not the case I will give it a try, but my dealer said they tried everything in terms of how to put it together. I agree that it's the bushings but they're designed poorly for the colder climates. If you know of any permanent fixes please let me know so I can tell my dealer what to do.

Well, it's silicone, so it should be relatively harmless. I imagine really gooey stuff might trap sand and other particulate debris which might cause wear.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the rubber Ford used just gets plain stiff in cold weather and starts making lots of noise. If the case, you could have those parts replaced a hundred times by the dealer and not "fix" the problem.

The white lithium stuff probably can't get deep enough. You need a product specifically labeled as a penetrating grease. You may have to order it off the internet... Or just take it apart and use real grease.

The only other thing I can think of at the moment is SiliKroil, which definitely will penetrate.

I am thinking more like:

03056 -- Heavy Duty Clear Penetrating Grease, 13 Wt Oz

I used a product called bowman's penetrating red grease, but it probably hasn't been available for 40 years. It suspends a heavy thick grease in volatile chemicals so if flows like alcahol for maybe 30 seconds before thickening to a grease.

I'll have to give that stuff a try if mine gets any worse then it is now. Tym let me know if you have any success with that other silicone spray. It still doesn't make sense that we are the ones having to spend more of our money and time figuring this out and not the company that we put 40k in their pockets.

Since I don't have endless time to diagnose this, I've made a service appointment with my dealer.

Thanks! Appointment set for Friday, but we're going to get clobbered with snow, so we'll see if that holds.

Yeah we're supposed to get another large snow storm this friday as well. Tym I got a car wash today and they did a great job, but sure enough the noise is back and slowly getting worse each day. I took another video but unless you have headphones its hard to hear. It's only a matter of time until it gets very bad. I got a phone call from Ford today about a service engineer coming to take a look at it next week so hopefully the noise is there when I go out with him. Also somehow my passenger belt clip thing that holds the seatbelt up is broken after one time of someone going into the back seat

Let me know what they find out for you on Friday and I'll keep you posted about what happens with mine next week.

Will do.

I'm starting to think that polyurethane bushings might be the ticket down the road if the noise comes back after (hopefully) getting fixed this weekend.

Stock bushings are all rubber. Polyurethane bushings are aftermarket, from firms like Energy Suspension.

Well, dropped off my car Thursday evening, and with the storm, haven't heard anything yet from the dealer or CSM. I'll be calling the dealer Monday morning for a status report, since if it is bushings (which seems highly likely), it should be a quick fix.

I don't know how much longer I can stand this craptastic Chevy Malibu loaner. LOL.

I'm also thinking that I might buy a set of polyurethane bushings to have on hand for when this problem returns, as it seems that the stock parts are under-engineered. For those who have had this issue fixed, was it the upper or lower sway bar end link bushings that were the culprit?
