Bought a 2013 Mustang GT a month or two ago and everything was great at first. I did run into the issue of a squeaky suspension going over speed bumps and loud thuds but that seems to have gone away thankfully. Did not need to have my lower control arms replaced.
But I did notice that the paint job on my front bumper might not be good. I've noticed odd spots where the paint has disappeared and seemed to have chipped away to the plastic but it doesn't seem to be the case. It just comes off really easily off the bumper. Is this normal? If not, can I go to the dealer and ask them to fix it? I put some touch-up paint over it just so it doesn't get worse (looks awful!) but it'll do for now. Still waiting on a car bra.
Also, when I bought my car, my salesman told me I would be able to get a certain rebate (college grad rebate) but by the time we were ready to seal the deal, the accountants/finance people had left but he insisted that I would be able to get that rebate (since I had gotten it on my traded-in 2012 Mustang V6 - yes, I made the jump). But apparently, that rebate doesn't exist for 2013s. I know it's only 500 bucks but I'd still like that money. You think I can work something out with the dealership or are they just going to screw me over? I know people make mistakes but I would like Ford employees to make good of their word.
I got the college grad rebate. I sent my salesman a picture front and back of my degree diploma and that was good enough for him and the dealer supposedly.
I also have a funny issue with my paint on my rear bumper, like something came into contact with the bumper while the paint was wet. Nothing terrible though, hardly noticable.
How is the shifting with the transmission (if it is a manual)?

As a salesman, I hate to tell a customer they are going to get something that they are not. Unfortunate situation for you non the less. But a month or two later, not the time to bring it up. As far as the paint issue, I would think they can resolve that. Maybe Dyesha(AFM: FordCustServ) can assist you in both matters, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the 500$....

My clearcoat is peeling on my front bumper, right where it meets the passenger fender. I need to take the car in to the dealer for this and the spot where it doesn't look like it was painted completely (Also on the front bumper). I guess paint problems on these cars are not uncommon.......

I brought it up a few times to the salesman at the dealership and emailed him. Everytime I do it, the finance people weren't in until I finally decided to call them myself. I'm going to call him this week to see if we can get this straightened out.

I'm a car salesman myself and if you get the discount we give it to you because its not about the profit on just 1 deal its about treating the customer with respect and and straight forwardness so that he or she will return to you in a few years and buy another car from you.

The guy who sold it to me is the general sales manager or something. He's a good guy.

I think if you have an email string that goes back from the time you did the transaction, you have a leg to stand on even if it's been a month or so. If he told you that you would get $500...then you should get it. If he later discovers he is wrong about eligibility on 2013's...then that is his problem for not knowing the facts and you should still get it. That's my opinion. If he makes it right, then he'll earn your trust and you will come back to him the next time you're in the market for a car. That will make them more money than shorting you $500 and then losing you as a future customer. If you point that out, he may take notice and fix the issue.
As for the paint, they should take care of that if it is a defect. If it looks like you've been following a gravel truck on a bumpy road...then it's on you. If it is an adhesion problem, it is covered under the warranty.
Good luck...hope he gets you squared-away. Enjoy your new chariot!

Hello guys,
I can escalate your paint issues for you. Please make an appointment with your dealers as soon as possible and PM me with your VIN, mileage, dealer, full names and best daytime numbers so I can help.
Regarding the incentives, you should speak to your Sales Manger. They can only apply the incentives that are available at the time of sale.

Too late now of course, but the paint issue I would have definitely left alone for them to see before you tried anything, especially paint. Now its something that's going to be a lot more work to fix and a not such a clear cut warranty issue. In fact they may no longer even see it as a warranty issue at all.
Not sure on the rebate either, but f it wasn't in place and presented at the time of the sale, I can't imagine how they'd be able to do anything now.
Good luck on both points, but I'd say your prospects are not the greatest on either.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.
