I am a very senior citizen and have a 2013 V6 that has an exhaust sound that I find annoying. I like the sound of a V8 but the six just sounds like an exhaust leak IMHO. I wonder if anyone on this forum has tried to quiet one of these V6s down a tad. Are the mufflers the problem or just the resonators? Does Ford have stock parts that could be used?
The exhaust system is designed to be as free flowing as possible for best performance and fuel economy while still maintaining a moderate noise level.
The exhaust has mufflers and resonators in it already but you could add two more resonators to try and quiet it down.
Most people want them louder though.
Personally, I like the stock exhaust sound pretty well most of the time but sometimes the kid comes out in me and I'd like it to wail.

Describe the sound a sheep makes when it explodes!
I do not like loud exhausts and I think my 3.7L sounds great.
I would either add a resonator to each side and see what that does, or replace the mufflers with the cheapest, most restrictive muffler I could find, but you'll lose performance and economy.
My only concern would be that because the exhaust note is already muffled so much, you might not see a whole lot of change with a bit of filament. That's a total of 6 sound attenuators; I have not a CLUE how that would sound.
