The highest I've had mine is 225 km/h, which is 140 MPH. Didn't hit a limiter. Don't expect I'll need more on a public road.

I hope. lol

Incorrect. Z encompasses many real ratings....... W, Y, and (Y). Most cheap crapo "Z" rated tires are actually rated "W" which is up to 168 MPH. Y is up to 186, and (Y) is over 186. Our Pirellis are Y rated... So this car is far from being limited by its tires...

I have a 3.55 GT with a tune on it, and I got up into the 160s once. It was far less terrifying than I imagined it would be.

My three passengers were somewhat less not terrified.

I imagine I would've needed at least another few miles to go much higher than that. This car has the aerodynamics of an aircraft carrier going sideways.

My passengers were a little more anxious to make it to our destination. The side effect of trying to make it 100 miles after a concert to get to our local bar before last call.

Lesson learned: never be the designated driver and bring the Mustang.

I hit GPS verified 145+ at the back straight at Road Atlanta, car was on Brembo Rims and Tires, 3.73 gears and Ford Racing Tune. It was still pulling fairly strong as I was running out of track and had to brake.

From my experience, I do believe the car is fully capable of much more than the 155 limited speed. I remember Ford insiders reporting the 03/04 Cobra was good for in excess of 170 wihtout a governor. I believe the new GTs would be capable of simiiar speeds aero challenged or not

I was hitting similar top end ot last gen Z06 - these cars are impressive on a road course!

Guys in many of the vids you are showing a 2011 mustang and apparently that governor is set at 155 while on a 13 it's 147. This guy has a manual, so I was wondering if it was different from the Autos. Here's the video.

I think the fact that all 2011-2013 GT's are governed by the factory to 145mph is ok.

Most racing is either in the 0-60 or 1/4 mile, so no biggie there ...

I've heard speculation of V6's going 120-130 without issue and still pulling.

So I imagine a 5.0 would do that much better.

I would think that V6 cars without the PP have lower speed limiters, due to their tires.

Can anyone confirm or deny that?

All V6's are limited to 114MPH factory. Tunes remove the limiter..

Well now that there are a lot more 2013's on the road I was wondering if anyone can confirm the factory Top speed for an auto before a tune?

I got my v6 with 2.73's up to 135 and it still had a bit left in it. I'd estimate it would've quit any significant pull around 145. You GT guys are probably good for at least another 20 mph. Do remember that the '13 GT500 taps 200, so you guys are probably topping around 170 if the v6 is topping 145.

Had mine up to 125 or so a few times and she was still charging ahead hard...

Back when I was young and stupid I got my '85 Saab 900 Turbo SPG up to 140...which I thought was mighty respectable for a 160hp 4 banger!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^100% Correct!! I was waiting for someone to give the REAL story about the infamous "Z" Marker on many of the new sneakers that even "Semi-Performance" cars are wearing today!.........Back in the day (Late '80s to early '90s) The 8 cylinder Stangs, and both the GM F body cars (Camaro+Trans-AM) were wearing "V" Rated Goodyear "Eagle Gatorbacks"!! and they were rated up to 149 MPH!...MOST of the Semi-Performance Rigs were sporting the "HR" Rating, which was good for 130 MPH! Back then only the Supercars were sporting True "Z" Rated sneakers ie. Ferraris, Lambos, and the ZR-1 DOHC Corvettes, NASCAR's and the Indy cars.....Back then the Z rating mean't that that Tire could go up to, and most of the time Over 186 MPH For the supposed 24 Hours Without a catastrophic failure!!......Now the "Z" in the ZR means that the tire with those letters before the tire size is Rated for at least the so called 149 MPH (For the 24-HR Certifacation),but you have to refer to the additional letter for the "True" 24-HR continuous maximum safe speed.........In other words, most tire manufacturers nowadays don't even bother making tires that are not certified for at least 149MPH........You rarely see tires with the older R, S, T, U, or even the H or V ratings...............Moral of this story The ZR looks "Cool" before the numbers specifying the size of the sneakers in question ...................My Thesis is now complete:laughlitt ......................Sean

This, very much so. The more you try to go up in speed, the more it's about air resistance and not about engine power.

That's the reason why Motor Trend (or was it Car & Driver) struggled incredibly hard to test the Shelby at 200 mph, and they had to look for some weirdo track where to run it, and they still couldn't get there.
