Santa Claus came early this year and gifted me a new Roush splitter for my ’13 Mustang. I think it’s the best looking splitter on the market right now. Very clean looking.
Anyway – I got around to installing it yesterday and thought I’d include some insight to the install. I never read the Roush directions, as I only watched the CJ Pony Parts install video on youtube. They did an impressive job and I recommend you do the same when it comes to watching how to install. I used a dremel with a cut-off wheel instead of what they asked for in the video and had ramps to get the front off the ground.
To review the splitter – I think Roush should plastic wrap it before shipping, as there was a light scratch on a corner after removal. Utilizing the stock splitter definitely complicates things for inexperienced modifiers, but is doable. Overall, I’m very happy.
Couple of tips:
1. Take your time
2. Pay attention when reinstalling
3. Get a power drill with a 7mm and 8mm socket end (it’ll speed things up big time)
4. When trimming your factory splitter, make the cut-off ends flush with the bottom piece.
5. Garment measuring tape will give you the best 18.5" measurement.
