Default RPM's hold at WOT

I had my RPM's hold and not fall off when shifting.. I was acceleraating in 1st gear, hit the clutch and the engine didn't back down, completed my shift into 2nd and almost got sideways! Has this happened to anyone else? It is kinda neat if you could rely on it happening every time.It is almost like the car is helping me speed shift....Have to be careful !!
This happened a couple times now.. But, only under heavy acceleration.>> Let me know if it is normal .

Are you letting your foot off the gas when you hit the clutch and shift into the next gear? If not that can be why and is commonly called a "power shift"

Does your RPM's drop quickly or do they fall off slowly when you hit your throttle? I know on the V6 the RPM's don't fall off real fast for emissions and it does almost feel like you are power shifting, don't know if the V8 has the same deceleration lag or not.

My automatic did something like that the other day. Took my foot off the gas and re applied, not hard at all. My rpms would go from like 2-5 instantly, and i did get sideways i had to wait like five seconds for the rpms to go down before i could drive. Only happend once. I think they used some futuristic oil that has negative friction. Really weird.

I’d like to escalate this to the customer service manager of your area and have it looked into, drifter1853. Please make an appointment with your dealer for diagnosis, and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

I think the vehicle is operating as designed. The RPM's on the V6 don't drop immediately, and if you shift quickly, the RPM's are right where they need to be for a smooth, almost unfelt shift.

In other words, if you bring the revs up to around 5500 - 6500, and don't lollygag with the shift, the motor by it's slower rpm reduction is working in your favor to match the gear/motor rpm's. Does that make sense?

I had the same experience just before I stored my car this year. There's absolutley nothing wrong with my vehicle. Making a quick, complete, and smooth shift at high rpm's, will set you up for a very well matched gear and rpm shift.

Tim

It's called massive rev hang, and these cars have the worst kind. Get a tune.

Make sure your floor mat didn't come loose and is pressing the pedal.

Have never had this issue. RPMs drop everytime when I depress the clutch. Almost 7k miles on it now.

I have this same "issue", though I'm pretty sure it's just the way the engine operates. It's almost like the flywheel is ungodly heavy and continues the momentum after you let off. I've been cruising in 2nd and depressed the clutch to rev at someone before, let off the gas for a sec, then let off the clutch and the RPMs were still high enough to lurch me forward and break the tires loose. The engine is just super slow to rev down.
