I just talked to my dealer..... Before I bought my car the salesman looked at the incentives and came back with the best one which was 1000 off for being a costco member. On that note, I bought my car. Today he called me back saying that my car doesn't qualify for the 1000 dollars off. I know its only 1000 dollars. The money isn't that big of an issue really, but how could any company do that, just blatantly lie to a customer.... I'm still waiting for rubber floor mats I was promised from december...I'm trying to see how much they'll give me for my car with 600KM on it. I was the first one in my family to stray from GM.. Lesson learned

Sucks they did that. If they can not have the costco discount apply, and no other discounts that equal that apply, then it would seem to me breach of contract, and so the contract would be void and they would have to give you your money back. there fault for the screw up. I would be ready for some "discussions" on the matter though, but simply either honor the contract, eat the $1000, or return all your cash, on top of what you were out at the license bureau.
GM would be no better. It is the integrity of the dealer, and maybe just one salesman. In many dealerships, the sales people are only kept if they meet goals, and there is little concerns about ethics. No matter what brand, it is up to the individual to be aware of the ethics of the dealership and how it treats customers. Trying to get my Mustang early because I had gone much longer than desire for a build date, my dealer found another dealer that was getting a close match. This dealer tried to cheat me and my original dealer both. It was such a bad experience that I almost abandoned the Mustang all together. Luckily my dealer and I had a long history together, and they took care of me.
Give them a chance to make good, but if they don't, take a look at your options and give a message to Deysha. There is not much she can do except make the regional manager aware of how you were treated. But it is a start.

Chevy did the same to me about 10 years ago ... which is why I now returned to Ford! My wife then, now my ex, made a huge deal out of keeping the car at an inflated price. We kept the car ... I got rid of her (for many other reasons, this was the final straw).
Op, maybe you can handle this a differant way. Instead of demanding your money back or returning the car. You could ask for a number of other things: extended warranty, free maintanance, TIRES just to name a few. And maybe everyone is happy.

Can dealers in Canada change their copy of the contract and have it stand-up in court?
Have they changed what you owe on the car?

"I swear to GOD, if you get another Mustang, and it doesn't have a manual, I'm hunting you down and installing one myself!!! I'll be in your driveway, late at night, NASCARing a new tranny into your car. You will get into your car the next morning, and think you're in an episode of the Twilight Zone, looking at a shifter sticking out of your console, and an extra pedal on the left." Me.
