Hey all,
This is my first post on these forums! I have a question about my car. I bought a 2013 Mustang GT Premium back in September and just now noticed that other Mustant GT's have a silver bar that streches from side to side under the hood directly above the engine that says 'GT' on it. My car doesn't have it!!! Is it supposed to be on all Mustang GT's or is it not on every one. I got the premium so I'm confused as to why it's not on there.

Any information on this is appreciated! Thanks!
Track pack cars get them. You can routinely find them in the classifieds for about a 100 bucks like I did. Easy bolt on and it does make the engine bay look prettier, but I doubt it really does anything.

I would think it does. It transfers structural stresses from one strut-tower across to the other to aid in handling. It serves to stiffen the structure of the car.
Of course the better option is a strut-tower brace that also connects to the firewall.
So, if the OP is looking to get a strut tower support brace, he should find an after-market unit that also bolts up to the firewall.

"I swear to GOD, if you get another Mustang, and it doesn't have a manual, I'm hunting you down and installing one myself!!! I'll be in your driveway, late at night, NASCARing a new tranny into your car. You will get into your car the next morning, and think you're in an episode of the Twilight Zone, looking at a shifter sticking out of your console, and an extra pedal on the left." Me.

It is included on all GTs with 19" wheels (which includes the Track Pack cars), on V6 cars with the Performance Package, and on convertibles. It's not a part of the Premium upgrade, although many Premium cars will end up with one because of the other reasons.
Didn't know this. Hmmmm? My 2012 GT with 19 inch painted wheels has the tower brace and I agree about the better brace also attaching to the firewall. Last year I installed that kind of brace on my 1999 GT and had a noticeable positive change in handling.

Not exactly true. Friend at work has a 13 base GT with 19" wheels with the Brembo package. He does not have a strut tower brace.

If his car was ordered with either the Track Pack or Brembo Brake Package, it should absolutely have the brace. Take a look at your friend's nuts (LOL) and see if someone has intentionally removed it before he bought it. ALL 2011+ Mustangs with OEM 19" wheels will have a strut tower brace.

So I always wondered what crow tasted like. I sent a text message to my friend and he does indeed have the strut tower brace. Again, his is a base 13 Grabber Blue GT with the Brembo pack. Sorry guys!
