Default Do you put seat covers over your leather?

Just curious, do you have seat covers over your stock leather seats? I have a 5 year old who rides in the back, but she is pretty clean and listens well. I just keep thinking about getting nice seat covers, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of getting leather?

In British Columbia (Canada) its the law that someone that age would need to be in a booster seat or an infant car seat so that would help eliminate the seat cover.
If its not the law where you live and you don't have the child in a booster seat or a car seat then perhaps a favourite towel child character under your child would help with any messes. Some of the booster seats have their own cup holders built into them which is an added bonus.

Default Car Interior

The rear seat is all vinyl.

The front seats have leather only on the parts of the seat your body actually touches when you are seated. The sides of the front seats are vinyl (or cloth). The backs of the front seats are vinyl. The headrest is all vinyl. The places, even below your thighs, which do not directly touch your body are all vinyl.

Advantages of the parts which are real leather: warmer in winter, cooler in hot weather, less sticky than vinyl in hot weather.

Now this is certainly silly...but pictured is how the rear seat area of my car currently looks.
I figure, if someone wants to sit there, they can bring their own pillow. And spills are very easy to clean up on metal surfaces.

Unless you have a California Special. The seating areas are "simulated carbon fiber" inserts but all of the surrounds and headrests are leather in both the front and rear.

Leather is easy to clean, why cover it up?

Didn't realize the rear seats were all vinyl. I guess the Mustang isn't the same as an $80,000 Mercedes.

I guess I have a hard time telling the difference between vinyl and leather.

Think I'll keep them uncovered. I've just been cleaning them every 2-3 days with Meguiars vinyl/leather cleaner.

Is there a reason why the back rest is still there?

Back rest remaining allows things in the trunk to stay where they are...and still they seem to fly around in the trunk.

Also, I need some place to keep personal items out of sight whilst car is parked.
I could build one of those flat panels to replace rear seat back rest..too much bother and expense.

I always get a laugh when I see someone's car with things sitting on the dash..yea right, there gonna stay in place if I did that on MY car.
Does anyone really drive THAT slowly around corners ?
