Well, sort of. Stopped for coffee and as I'm waiting in line I see everyone looking out the window. A guy in his Chevy Avalanche work truck backed up into the nose of my car. Blunted the hood right on the point. Scraped the bumper up.
At least he didn't flee, we exchanged info, and he plans to pay for it.
It's been a while since I've had to deal with this stuff, what do you guys think, get a quote from Ford and also a body shop?
I had a guy rear end me in my last car right in front of a cop in D.C.. The cop said they don't do reports if there's no injury (I didn't know you could demand one regardless). The guy exchanged insurance info with me that I later found out was bogus. He then denied ever hitting my car.
TRUST NO ONE AFTER AN ACCIDENT. PERIOD.

I called the cops, yes, and they came. They actually suggested that as long as we are ok with it to just exchange info and get it fixed. I don't want this on my Carfax. Also the guy was honest enough to come find me. So I think it will be ok. In New York there is a 7-day window to go have a report filed, they have a record of my call, and I have photos of the situation.
Want to get it fixed right though. Will upload a picture later, but I can't imagine it won't just be a new hood.
Avalanche Hahahaha good one!! Could be performance upgrade in form of weight reduction. Get a cool fiberglass hood after you get 3 quotes, 1 high(ford) 2 other shops then take the average.

Damn, my car just got hit today as well but the other guy didn't stick around. It's tough to say.. If he's covering it I would go wherever you feel more comfortable. I've never had Ford fix my paint, but I would think they would need to meet a certain level of quality that would match the factory appearance. I feel like body shops can be hit or miss, and are on a looser schedule.
I should be finding out today what the guy who hit me is willing to do. He also doesn't want to go through insurance. Like I said the last thing I want is my Carfax saying I've been in an accident. I also don't want bondo on my hood, and I'm worries that if it gets repaired (the seam was damaged on the hood lip) that its a ripe candidate for the corrosion problem others are having down the road.
If this guy won't pony up for a new replacement what would you guys do? Fiberglass replacement?
Have you been to a body shop yet ? Find out how much to paint a new hood and to paint a bumper. Then get the Roush front bumper and nice aftermarket hood of your liking . At the same time have it checked out for further problems . I won't waste time to act on this.

Mods so far:,roush axle backs,pypes x pipe,resonator deletes, jlt oil catch can,20% tint, stack racing chrome strut tower bar, professional painted engine bay.roush side splitters and rears. stillen gen 1 chin splitter, am black billet hidden fog light grille. chrome interior pop locks, huski floor liners.
Yeah I have been to 3 shops and got estimates from them all the day this guy hit me (last Friday). Now the guy is not returning phone calls yesterday or today. I guess I am an idiot for trusting anyone.
Damn it I guess I have to have either an insurance fight now or small claims court.
The hell with car fax sell it on the street the day you want something newer . Id call his insurance. I hope u got that off him? Have it fixed at a shop u trust and tell them u wanna an aftermarket hood and bumper or stick to oem which the insurance will give u used bs . Like my old man always tells me no matter how junkie your car is if it gets hit or bruised call the insurance to get something out of them. Last year some dead beat old guy bumped into my 01 Ford escort zx2 rear bumper and made a chip and i line in the bumper . Later found out its a crack . I gave him benefit of the doubt he would pay me. Never got his insurance cause i felt bad fir him being a broke ass. He never paid me and moved. Listen learned .i still see him on yhe streets driving in my town . When i see him. Shits gonna happen to his car .

Yeah I have full documentation on the guy, all his info, insurance, registration, I even know where he works (construction site in my neighborhood). He's just not getting back to me and its pissing me off. Already spent a day getting estimates and this morning going to the police station just to get a "civilian report" to mail to Albany. And every time I look at my car I want to punch someone in the face lol
