Well, it's Spring Time and a chance to go out for a nice drive. Once again GT1120 and I are going for a ride and we would like all to come. We plan on meeting in central Mass and going along the Rte 143 and the Mohawk Trail. (details may change up a bit but expect something similar to last falls ride). The scheduled date is Saturday Mat 11th we had a great time in the fall and hope to see more of you out this time The link below is from the fall cruise there is also another video made by Theo around somewhere.....
PM either of us for details. Last year RoboStang and I convoyed up to Mass so any CT drivers that want to meet down here it'll make the ride a bit more fun (and safer...thx again Robo for the Statey heads up)
Over 2.5 hrs for me to drive just to get there... I would be interested in something a whole lot more east. Perhaps another route closer to Boston later in the spring?
We were batting around the idea of a late night cruise through Boston (esp the tunnels). Have to plan carefully to avoid cops/drunk drivers/traffic though
You should rename this the "Mustang Tour of Western Mass" lol. All the way out to North Adams eh? The weather looked perfect and the scenery was nice. I think if you were further east you would have double the amount of cars making the trip. If you had a killer restaurant stop I might be swayed, but I'm still on the fence. A loop around the Quabbin sounds like a great idea, I would definitely be down with that.
I also like the idea of a mini-cruise, something that only takes 60-90 minutes, that ends at a nice restaurant. I thought of this when I started taking my Mustang out for back road drives through the hills of NH. There is a great new tavern that opened that also has a good selection of beer on tap. Was even thinking that if we ever had a southern NH cruise, we could make a reservation there and they could tape off the row of parking spots that face the road so that all the Mustangs could park together. Meet for a coffee in the morning, wait about 30 min for every to show up, say hello, polish up the wheels, and then drive for about 90 min, then have lunch. Did I mention that I like food?
Back on topic, it will be good to see how many folks want to do the longer trip or would commit only if it was closer to civilization, heh. No reason you couldn't do both at some point, it's finally warming up here in New England! Mid 60s today and almost 70 tomorrow. That should finally melt the ice pack in back garden. I still have snow where the bench is on this clip.
for those whom say it's too far East, realize that we do meet just off 91 yes the western part is a few hrs from you but I don't think the start is super far (even fm Boston) It's 1 1/2 for Robo and me to the start. The advantage of western part of MA are quiet roads (well 143 was) and rte 2 is a classic cruise. I'm up for the lunch idea too. Truth is I owe RoboStang a beverage over a wager we had....d'oh.
Everyone who went last time had fun and is back in. Would you rather do chores or go for a nice ride????
Too far west you mean... I'm just whining, that route looks very nice. Never been out that way so it might be worth the drive. What time of day do you start driving?
Last time we started 10:30 or so the trip was a few hrs long and I was back in time to cook dinner which keeps my Love happy. GT comes out of NH too but I don't remember where. I went to school in Manchester which may explain the East/West thing
Well as previously stated I pickup my pony from the paint shop tomorrow so I am up for it. I do not mind the travel time as that's the point to cruise anyway. =)
Coming from East Haven, CT, I think the wife and I will be coming so if anyone wants to meet off Exit 13 on 91 and head up we are more than likely going
Dunkin' Donuts
506 Pleasant Street
Northampton, MA 01060
that's exit 18 of I-91 (Rte 5)
We'll meet here, it's the same place as last year with what may be one of the slower DD's around, but they do have both gas and beverages. Plan on hitting the road at 10:30 or so. GT and I have talked and are thinking doing the same ride as last year except maybe going a little further West to Rte 7 for the Northbound leg. We're open to the will of the majority it's a bit further of a cruise but Rte 8 was meh....if people are familar with the area speak up. If you have walkie talkies it's a good chance to use them (or an excuse to buy). I'll throw out rain date as the Sunday but it is Mothers day.
CT guys/gals last year Robo and I met at exit 21 in CT for the cruise, other votes for an exit let me know.....it did help having a partner since he did give the heads up on a cruiser.

Mud - My daughter and I are definitely in. Exit 21 works for us but any exit from Wallingford north will work. Just let me know.
