| | Coolant leaking
Ok, I know this isn't a tech section, I just want some opinions. Tuesday night I leave work, drive right home. Not even five mins later after getting home. I run too the store to get dinner. I'm in the store for about 30 mins, come out and find water under my car. It's clearly coolant, I pop the hood and start the car. Coolant is leaking, a very steady quick dripping. It's leaking low and too the left side of the water pump pulley. Can't see if its the weep hole or the timing cover. Go home park the car over night. Under the car is dry, under the hood is dry except a few little spots. Engine block is dry, but shows where coolant was at one point. I take it to the nearest ford dealer this morning. They see coolant is a little low, and possible leak. They pressure test the car, cold. No leaks of any kind. They think the timing chain cover gasket is failing. There is a tsb on it. They said they topped the coolant off, and just watch it for a few days. If I notice any change, call them and they'll do the tsb. I checked tonight with the car cold, the over flow tank is about 1/2" low. Still see no leaks, or water on the ground. Car doesn't run hot, smoke or etc... When I did see it Tuesday night, there was a strong order of antifreeze. Now nothing at all. My gut tells me the dealer is wrong, and they just want too throw parts at a problem they don't have an answer for. The repair is under my ford ESP warranty, so I don't want to fork out 100 bucks for a maybe. Then have too come back because it wasn't the issue. And spend another 100 bucks too fix it. What would you do?
