So as we all know the stock driveshaft isnt very good if you plan on doing performance mods. The 1-piece aluminum driveshafts are $700+, I have found a local place that could do a one-piece steel one with HD flanges for $260-350. This is my first mustang and driveshafts are new to me so I'm just looking for some more experienced opinions.
its a local fleetpride in Connecticut that does alot of driveshafts for the area and a few have been newer mustangs. They will stand behind it amd it will probably be a little over kill, but after bombing one transmission in my trailblazer and snapping the outputshaft on that after it was rebuilt i like my drivetrain to stand up to the abuse. I plan on going FI after we buy a house this year so i just want to plan ahead for it.
You know, my uncle has been looking at possibly buying a new Mustang, and when I told him about our 115 speed limit, he had a really puzzled look on his face. I of course proceeded to explain to him about our **** driveshaft, and the price of a new one.
He said the same thing, a local shop could make one for under $300. This definitely has me thinking. And I know he knows his **** because he's been drag racing and building cars for years.

Here's my question on this whole subject. Both the V8 and V6 have the same core drivetrain. Trans/rearend, but gearing differ in both trans and rear. My question is will a V8 driveshaft fit a V6 with the same trans? Or do the back of the motors meet at the firewall different? Meaning spacing, is it different? Then by moving the drivetrain forward or backward?
just be safe and get a Axle exchange or shaft masters....

GT shaft is shorter, engine and trans sits back further than the V6.
Plus the GT shaft is a two shaft system with a carrier bearing in the middle.
Yeah shaftmasters is only $297 more than the $300ish one. Plus its tested and used by lots of people. AE onr even takes the abuse of over 400hp at 160mph dynos. I would rather be safe than sorry
