Looks like machined marks, possibly for balance?

No Schram, they're definitely machined...

Just look at the things, and the fact each cut - which is particularly smooth, for something that you're saying looks like it fell off - is mirrored on both pieces across the cooling vanes.

Ya goober.

Brand new cars sitting on the dealer lot can have rust on the brake rotors. Totally normal.

Rotors are going to rust on the edges because they are bare metal.

I had rust on mine after a month. Heat and weather exposure my guess. The fins area looks painted when new though:

Rotors are bare metal. They will get surface rust when they sit, it's a natural process for steel.

Try living in Vancouver where it rains 8 months of the year. This is after 2 days of the car not being used. By the time I get a few blocks they look clean. The centers are going to rust, you can't stop that.

I get rust on mine just from having them sit during the weekend. Pads take it off so never has been a concern.

I'm very aware of oxidation but when I go the car in the morning and see the rotor covered in rust I question the integrity of the part.

Will be in touch when my brakes shimmy!
