Sorry to start another thread on the subject, as I've seen plenty out there, but the search function yields everything but what I'm looking for.
What is the best way to remove the vinyl side stripes? I've never liked the things but I bought this car as it was because it had everything else I wanted except for the stripe delete. I suppose I could have asked the dealer to remove them, but whatever.
I've heard that a hair dryer will do the trick, but I am unclear on how to get the peeling started without gouging my paint. Also, is there a safe chemical I can use to loosen it up. I know alcohol and Goo-Gone work well on 3M but I'm not so sure about vinyl.
Still debating adding the Tri-Bar pony fender badges though.

I asked this question a lot, and never got an answer... I just went ahead and peeled up a corner one day with my fingernail. Come to find out, it's not any type of heavy duty vinyl or anything, it's just tape. Take a corner and peel. Unless your car has tons of miles on it or is in the elements constantly, it should all come off in one piece very easily. There should be residue along the edges of where the tape stripe was. You can easily get that off by washing the car and going over those spots with a textured sponge etc.
Took me all of 5 minutes to get both stripes off. Good luck!

Well here in LA we get a fair amount of sun as well and I have a black car. I couldn't notice a difference at all. After about a week of the exposed paint being hit by dirt and grime, it will blend. Either way, it's better than having a stripe
Definitely the best and cheapest mod. The car is so much classier without the stripe!

I've you're super careful and use some Goo-gone with a razor blade, that sucker should come right off. I got this MASSIVE surf sticker off of the back of my truck when I bought it with that combo and didn't damage my 13 year old paint at all.

if it doesn't come off easy in 1 piece then get a heat gun or blow dryer and run it over the stripe for a second or two and that heats the adhesive and the decal peels right off

When you do it can you post some before and after pics if there's any noticeable fading? I'm thinking about taking my stripes but I'm not sure about the fading on the lava red. As for being hit with the dirt and road grime, that doesn't stay on my car long

They will be cell phone pic's (I can't find my camera charger) so the quality might not be high enough to tell, but I will do it.
Unfortunately the "flow" will still be out of kilter because I have a Cervinis rear valance (no exhaust cutouts in the back). That thing sits very high (larger piece top to bottom on the sides of the car) than factory, and it's painted black. The flow will not be "right" until I install Stalker side skirts, (as they ride higher up on the body than stock) and paint them black as well. So I am not likely to take any full pic's of the car, just close-ups. Either way, bad flow or worse flow, I've never liked the side stripes.

i pealed mine off, just got a corner up with my finger nail really easy, then it just peeled the rest of the way off with no problems.
Yep I took mine off the first day haha

Nibis, why not bring those hood stripes all the way back and wrap them around on the rear deack lid to mirror the hood? I think something like that might offset the peeled side stripe failry well?
