Default Shifter issue in auto goes R - D

Does anyone else have this issue, that when my cars in reverse, if i just slide the shifter down itll go into Drive without me pressing the unlock button thing on the shifter? If i go from D up to R i have to press the unlock button. Its slightly annoying because i leave my hand on the shifter when i reverse and sometimes i slips to Neutral or even drive.

All cars do that...
Not a problem...

Let go of the shifter... two hands on the wheel when reversing

It's so you cannot accidently go from D to R while going down the road if you were moving the selector forward(like going from a lower gear and intending to go to D)...and go too far on accident.

I did that once years ago on an old car. The shifter was old, sloppy, broken button that let me slide it forward too far. Oh Sht moment for a split second!

That's how its designed. If you manually shift (1 2 3) you can change between them and push it into drive without the button. On mine if I push the shifter from the numbers up to drive to fast it will shift into neutral. Not sure if it's just my car or a design flaw but definitely something to watch out for if you like to shift occasionally!

Shifting into neutral and revving the **** out of the engine has happened to me a couple of times. Until I realized that you don't have to press the button between 1-2-3 and it hasn't happened since. Wish I knew this info before I realized it by myself and going Into neutral

My mother's trailblazer is the exact opposite. It is very easy for you to accidentally hit the shifter while in D and it will put you in neutral or reverse. I like the feature on the mustang myself, because it makes it smoother for me to go from reverse to drive.
