you would need alot more done to get 100 extra horses... eng rebuild... supercharger, etc.... Ask tripleblack im sure he would be able to shoot u some info on it. I do think its possible... it would cost more than its mostly worth...
I like the bottle Comment but those bottles can wax your a$$ if your not careful.
That is very true about NOS, thay do create a whole lot of HP real fast... I just like to be a smart azz, and was raised on small and big block motors. I'm more of a street guy these days, so when I do race someone that has a bottle, they take me for about a half mile, then the higher na hp gets them, but at the track, it is a great boost to have.
My father keeps telling me to stop pumping money into the 4.6 and just buy a small block Ford and stick it in there with a 3 speed trans... he is old school, and I am waiting to do that to an old fastback!
I would love to get as many horses as I can out of this 4.6 without a blower/turbo/NOS.
talk to markwondi hes a god when it comes to na engines
edit: tell your father that you have a small block ford and it is 100% better than the old mustang engines
edit again: you could just get forged crank/pistons/rods some roller rockers/valves/springs get ur heads ported and polished you should be over 400 then when you need spray or boost you should be able to push it to the max

First have your car dynoed on a Mustang Dyno for some "real" numbers. You'll pump a lot of cash and time into your car to get to the 400 mark and the car will not be that street friendly. You're better off adding a Vortech. It's a lot easier and you'll have 400 +.
how would your car not be street friendly with only 400hp my buddies street legal mustang has 1100hp to the ground no problems with the street....................... or them civics/supras/wrxs, well you get the drift

I was wondering if anyone here was able to make there 4.6 400hp, or close to? With the mods I have, what else could/should I do to come close?
Thanks,
MM&FF tried to do this, with expert engineers (Holdener did the project) and every advantage, they failed. Stalled out around 300rwhp and gave it up.
I think they went the whole hog, 5.0 stroker, forged rebuild, ported heads, intake, stronger cams, all the boltons, headers, full exhaust actually, and it just wouldn't reach.
They talked about putting a pure racing cam in it, but acknowledged that the whole idea was to make a strong daily driver that would idle and drive right.
In fact, I believe somehwere along the way they just went ahead and plumped a blower on it.
Nitrous and tons of fuel can get you there, but again, its NOT really a pure N/A build when you do that.

Assuming money isn't the issue (if it is, you always get more from a blower on these cars per dollar than any other route), a sound N/A build would cost about $10,000 and run through the motor from bottom to top. Think of it this way:
1. Add power with a forged 5.0 stroker kit with all the bells and whistles (get the ones with the tool steel wrist pins, the angles are really tough on those pins) ($3000 including labor)
2. Add power with ported heads, stronger cams (270 series Comp Cams or similar) and larger valves (I like Fox Lake, though you might squeeze a few more ponies out of the 6.00 valvetrain Patriots, as you know) ($2400 including labor)
3. Add power with a ported P51 (etc) aftermarket intake ($800)
4. Add power with a CAI ported to the fender ($225)
5. Add power with a 75mm tb and port-matched upper intake plenum ($425)
6. Add power with a full exhaust, LT's, X, etc. ($1800 installed)
7. Add power with UDP's ($150)
There are a few other tricks that might add a hair but cost a fortune (hotten COP's, bigger MAF, one size bigger injectors, tons of time with an expert tech on a good dyno, etc... ($1600)
Figure you MIGHT, with a huge effort and expense, get the flywheel horsepower to about 360 - a 100hp gain.
Push the "street driveable" limit with a really stout cam (and the upgraded valve train it would need, and the extra machine work flycutting pistons, etc, etc) and you might hit a good bit more.

It's not going to happen. I know someone that is making mid 300's to the tires N/A, but you won't be able to reach 400... That's a lot of power my friend. Not on a SOHC 4.6L... I think his revs to around 8k too.
