Good day all! I'm in the market to buy another Mustang and I found an ad for a 2000 GT with leather interior, 5 speed, power everything, bone stock, etc. Only thing I'm hesitant about is it has 133k miles on the clock. I've heard these 4.6L modular motors are done at 100k. Anybody have any thoughts? I would possibly be looking into doing a 5.0L stroker or something similar eventually, but not right away. I want something I can drive around for at least a year without having to worry too much. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Have the car been driven hard are drag raced? If not, go for it. I bought my 1999 GT new and it has nearly 160,000 miles on it and its still going strong. Well maintained and never raced. Performing upgrades now but that is more for my pleasure and style. Only parts to fail so far is the IAC and the plastic Intake not counting regular wear and tear on items. Just my .02.

Agreed...BTW mine is for sale. About 12k on a new long block. It had 80k+ on it when i bought it and lasted to about 112k (crank+rod bearing). Tells you about the previous owner because I have taken damn good care of it.
Well finding a 4.6L V8 isnt hard...... if they son of a gun DIES... you could do a eng rebuild... if it was be and it had that much miles i would do a eng and transmittion rebuild... Or drop a newier eng in the car... or a modified eng in.
Yeah, that comment about they are done at 100k is news to me too.
If it looks like it was well maintained and not beaten on and it runs and drives good, then I agree with going for it

be smart about buying the car. dont be a sucker and buy it cause you really want a mustang. take a couple days and hit up an autotrader, find a nice mustang. maybe an 02'. with lower miles then 130k. haha. i bought my 04 with 30k for 14,600. better deals mean more money for performance parts

I've got a stang that I don't want to sell but it's in really good shape. Only 40,000 miles original and only 1500 on the top end rebuild w/ comp XE270 Cams, Ported and Polished Fox Lake Stage II heads, BBK shorty, BBK intake. I'll try to post a link for ya. Lots more to offer on it.
^^^why post and get the kid going if your not gonna sell the car? trentonso they're more mustangs out there with well under 100k miles. 9/10 the current owner used the car as a daily driver, if you want a nice car to run around in and get on every once in a wile i wouldnt bother throwing decent money in a 100k mile (V8)<~~~ not a 4 banger that can take 200k miles.. search the autotraders or specialty books and look for a decent mustang within your price range with under 100k miles.

Craig
I just ran a quick autotrader search and found 54 GT's selling for less than $9000 with fewer than 75,000 miles on them.
This link will only work for a short while, but you get the point.
Plug in your own data (zip code, and how many miles from home you are willing to shop), and then hit the "more search choices" and you can even get picky about what you are shopping for.
Needless to say, as mileage goes up, price goes down.

I haven't had a chance to make it out there for a test drive, maybe this weekend. Otherwise, I don't have much else to report about it. Thank you all for your input and don't worry, I'm not in too much of a hurry to have another car or car payment. I've owned 2 Mustangs before, but this would be the first modular motor.
