Default Question about driveline noise, 2001 Mustang GT

Aloha, this is my first post here. Great site, lots of good info. I just picked up a 2001 GT
and it seems like it has a bit of drive line noise when I step on the gas. It's kind of a worrling noise, kind of like maybe the driveshaft out of balance. No vibrations.
It's not the tires. It's not that noticable,
just wondering if that just the way Fords
are because it seems like my 2005 does the same thing. I searched the tech archives the other night for hours but could not find anything similar. Also my fog lights don't work.
I am going to start with changing the bulbs.
Thanks

i have no guess on the noise.. if it's like a sputtering sound maybe you could have a clogged fuel filter or 1 of your driveshaft bolts could be loose .........if your foglights did'nt work there must have been a reason maybe that 1 being dimmer than the other is the reason. you could have a short or cut in the line somewhere thats grouding them out? idk look over the lines and check the part where you plug the bulb in and make sure theres no corrosion visable

If there is no vibration it is not the driveline. An out of balance driveshaft will vibrate thru the car and be felt in the floorboards and the seat.
Could be gear clatter. There is a certain amount of backlash on the gears in the transmission to allow for expansion when they heat up.

Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.

I figured if it was the driveshaft out of balance there would be a noticable vibration, but there is none, so that is not the problem.
If problem is with the gears in the trans, what does it take
to fix? New trans? Rebuild? Tighten bands?
TIA
