Default stereo head unit questions

I have a 99 gt with the mach 460 sound system and am about to purchase an alpine head unit, along with ipod integration and OEM Amplifier Integration. my question is, when installing, do i remove both the slot with the tape player and the slot with the cd player? i would think so. if i take both of them out, what recommendations do you have to put in the second slot which will now be empty?

yea, i also install steroes and anything else pretty much, my guess would be you have to remove both the casette/radio and the CD player. the new alpine HU your buying will take up the upper slot and you can buy an additional pocket or slot like eljavy was saying above, or you can do somthing custom and take a peice of metal or diamond plate and make a little switch board or have 2 or 3 slots for gauges.

thanks for the ideas. yeah im ordering it off crutchfield and they include a pocket for the second slot. its a great deal with a free ipod integration and 20 bucks off of the MACH adapter and free shipping. only running me back $190. i would love to throw some guages in there but i don't have a supercharger or anything and there aren't a whole lot of guages that i would need to put in there haha. maybe oneday...
