Good day all, as the proud new owner of a 2001 Mustang GT, I've decided it was time to begin the mods. The vehicle has a short throw shifter, CAI, Bassani X pipe and cat back system and I believe it has an UD pulley kit, but I'm not sure by who. I did a baseline dyno and she puts down 246 rwhp consistently. I would like to start with an intake, plenum and t/b before getting a reflash. I've noticed there are a few companies that make an intake for this motor, but I don't really have any advertised numbers, etc. Any suggestions? I was thinking of either a Typhoon intake and dragon plenum/throttle body or a Trickflow Track Heat intake and 75mm t/b. I will eventually throw a power adder on the vehicle and I would rather find one intake that can benefit both NA and forced induction set ups and not have to buy another intake down the road. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and tips.
I hear the P-51 intake manifold is a great piece but expensive. Not too much word on the trickflow one yet but it looks like a decent piece. The typhoon intake has always made me weary because of it's previous leaking problems but I heard they fixed it but who knows.

The stock intake manifold lol, I don't have enough airflow for the aftermarket ones to make any much of a difference on my car. I'm planning on getting either a Vortech or Procharger in the future so maybe then I'll seriously look into one.

How do you like the plenum and t/b? Any noticeable gains in power?
I noticed my car pulls a little harder in the mid to high range. You'll see a average of around 5-10rwhp gain. It also slightly changed my exhaust tone(a tiny more aggressive, but nothing compared to a new exhaust setup) I also have the 75mm(for my future SC setup) but right now I have some exaggerated TB response lol.

I was thinking of doing the t/b and plenum first. It's quick, easy and will give a little more power to satisfy me for the week. I ordered new Corsa mufflers today too. I can't wait to get rid of the drone

Yeah, I have major drone with the flows and o/r x. I think I'm used to it now because it's not as loud as when I first got it lol.(I'm probably going deaf) Yeah you should like the plenum and t/b combo and corsa mufflers, good luck

Ya I dont have even a tb or intake...but mr.bell will take care of all that come august...but tb wise i think that dragon should be decent or accufab like fobra has isnt bad either...but if you decide to get a blower and wanna replace ur i/m then u can get a kenne bell since they have their own i/m...and you can get a tb from them and a different maf, and you get an intake from them so ya that'll cost u the lowest about a little ovr 4g's...but good luck with ur mufflers and if u want betr sound go with a new mid pipe and headers if you really wanna finish the exhaust off...have fun spendn the $$$ tho lol
I'm seriously leaning towards a twin turbo kit. I went with a supercharger on my old 347 fox body and it was powerful, but too damn noisy for me. IMO, a twin turbo kit would be more of a sleeper and THAT is a good thing when you have a bunch of cops in your hometown.
I'm loving the idea of the TT kit. But you gotta remember the cost of it all. I'm assuming you are talking about the kit from HP motorsports? That alone is 6400 just for the kit. Not to mention the coin to have it installed and tuned properly. But if that is what you want check out Modular Powerhouse Modular PowerHouse
I was considering that TT kit. I can do the install myself. I've been building cars for years and built my last 92 Mustang to produce 683.1 rwhp. I have a tuner who does great work so that's covered too.
I installed the BBK 78mm throttle intake last weekend and my new Corsa mufflers today. The throttle intake made a 'little' difference, but nothing to get excited over, mostly because I'm still running the stock intake still.
As for the Corsa mufflers, on the short drive home they were SO much quieter inside than the Bassani mufflers. What a relief. No More Drone!!!
Next month I'll probably grab the I/M. I noticed my stock plastic POS has a small hairline crack forming around the thermostat housing. How typical...
Get sub-frame connectors installed before you do anything else. The car will be a twisted mess before your ever able to make any power if you don't help it.
