Hey,
It is the summer time and Car shows are popping up everywhere. I like to take my car and I was wondering if anyone had any little tricks or tips on prepping your car up for the show.

I had my first one back in April, and have another coming up in bout 2 weeks. All i did was detail the hell out of her. Make sure ya clean the engine bay, wash her up really good, and do a good claybar/wax job. Also clean up the interior really good and just go there and pop your hood, take some chairs, and lsiten to all the comments.

Also on a black car especially, after washing the car real good and then after using a clay bar (removes contaniments off the surface of your paint, makes it real smooth), buff her if you know how to. Gets rid of 90+ percent of swirls atleast and looks really good when finished. I just did my black '05 and she looks brand new! Then I use a detail spray to shine her up some more, then put a coat or two of wax on. Clean both in the trunk, and under the hood, door jams, and I pressure wash the bottom underneath the car to get all the road dirt and stuff of the bottom. Make everything clean and it all adds up in the end to amke a great looking car!

Take the leftover quick detailer from your claybar kit to the show with you and wipe off all the dust you pick up on the way.
Also, during the summers when you plan to go to shows, meets, and events... it never hurts to wip down the engine bay with a damp cloth a few times a week to make it an easier job to detail right before the show.
One other thing I always liked to do, was find someway to display somethign unique about your car. When I had an 86 trans Am with a TPI and not so many people were familiar with Fuel Injection, I had pages copied of the TPIS insider Hints Book copied and displayed in the hatch so people could read them.
With my 89 Turbo Trans Am, it had the ability to use a Lap Top with Turbo Link software package to do data logging. I left the lap top plugged in and the display up and would start the car and show the function for hihgly interested folks.

Just remember when your claybaring it to not push dont on it to hard cuz the claynbar can leave scratches if used wrong. And use plenty of water and that quick detail spray, very important to keep it wet while you claybar. And give her a nice coat of wax afterwards.
