Default difference between 1997 mark 8 4.6 and 1998 cobra 4.6?

What is the difference between a 1997 Lincoln mark 8 4.6 and a 1998 cobra 4.6? Because i can get a good deal on a 1997 Lincoln mark 8 engine but i want to be able to use my tuner. what all would i need to be able to use a 1998 cobra computer and wiring harness on the engine?

They should be the same engine, but the only thing is possibly the intake and exhaust. I would suggest you try to get as much of the Mk 8 engine as you can, even the harness and computer, just to be on the safe side. But it should all work together, its just the details that might get you into trouble.

alot, Cobra has a 8 bolt steel crank, MK8 has a 6 bolt cast crank, Cobra has a different intake camshaft and Pistons and Con Rods are different between the 2....you can use your tuner and the harness but dont excecpt to make the kind of HP out of the MK8 engine VS the Cobra....

Correct. Also, as for the swap, the Mark 8 engine has a different accessory setup (front dress is different), so make sure you get the whole engine, including brackets and such.

I can't remember if the motor mounts are the same or not.

What is the price differential for you between the Mark 8 engine and a Cobra engine from another source?

To me the decision would all boil down to performance (the Mark 8 comes up short there, of course) and price.

I was just reading about Teksid. Nemak (Mexico company) bought out their casting plants in the US, Mexico and Brazil, while Fiat bought their plants in Italy last year.

Do they still make parts for Ford?

Yup then ford started doing their own which sitll wernt the same then went back to Iron.

Alot of times builders give you the option for an aluminum block...95% of the time its not a seasoned Teksid but a Ford Casting.
