Default I am hearing Marbles in my Stang!

Hello Everyone, I need your help. This annoying noise just started in my 2001 GT. IT sounds Like I have Marbles in a Aluminum pan underneath my car. IT doesn't happen all the time, just most of the time. When I rev the car up the sound doesn't get any faster so I know it's not the engine or crank...I'm thinking it might be the cats. Sometimes it's embrassing sitting at a light, everybody is wondering where this clanking is coming from. any ideas would be appreciated.

Could well be your cats starting to break up - or some stones trapped in the heat shields - or maybe some other damage to the exhaust.

Take it in to your muffler shop and have them give it the once over.

If your cats ARE gone, good time to consider a new mid-pipe with high flow cats. Upgrade rather than just repair.

+2.....Cats are on their way out. That is the "classic" sound of a cat going bad. Next you'll start smelling a rotten egg smell if it goes too long.

Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.
