yes i know, another gear thread..im sorry and ive read so MANY threads about this but none answered my specific question...i dont care about gas mileage and i dont drive highway so we can avoid those situations...my buddy is giving me his 4.10 gears, if i want them, cuz i will have to cover install..my only concern was being able to hook up..i was looking ot get 17x10.5 rear cobra look alike rims off americanmuscle.com and getting nitto 555 to wrap them(315's)..my only concern was will that be enough to not just smoke my tires on a launch? i have to launch at less than 2k with stock gears so if i had 4.10's i was concerned that even if i was racing someone from a 10 or 20 roll that when i slammed the gas i would smoke the tires, and from a dig i would be one of those cars that are fast but only when i hook..i want to 3/4 times hook, atleast..i dont feel like having to feather the gas in order to hook up and then have to ride around on drag radials 24/7...so can all you 4.10 guys out there help me out with what i should do? any suggestions are welcome...thanks!

imo, with that size of tire you'll definately be fine, i have 4.10s and still on stock wheels with cooper 2xs tires and launch at 1500-2000 and dont have problems at all... are you still stock? just udp's... and gas really wont be a problem. i average 20/town and 26/highway(cruising 85 so dont fear the gear) and yes i do get on it but it depends on the driver... so hope you get em and enjoy em

well i have 4.10s and 17x10.5 rims on the back, with just a set of 315 sumitomo tires on them. well mine still spins, if your plannin on running the nitto 555s you should be fine. what else do you have done to the car? i have a few small things on mine. i would do the 4.10s, i have no regrets, i love them

yeah, i seem to be getting mixed reviews from everyone..some ppl say they spin, others say they dont..how about at a roll..if you punch it at a 10 or 20 roll how well does it hook..and the shift to second i already can scream the hell out of the tires so i imagine you can light them up with 4.10's
im not stock but close lol...just cai,x pipe, magnapak catback, udp..after the gears i was also buying a tuner for a nice 93 octane tune to my mods

well from a 10-20 roll, its hooks pretty good, but there is still spin in there, i guess it just depends. but when you hook lol it goes lol. i havent been to the track to see how well it hooks there. i love my gears. and some of my friends have put 3.73s in there cars and wish they would have went with 4.10s. there is no comparison between stock gears and the 4.10s

so im guessing that the spin cant be to bad if your still love them lol..im ok with a little bit of spin, its just when you have to much it slows you down and thats what i wanna avoid..i wont be at the track to much but i like playin around on the streets sometimes..i guess its just gonna be one of those things im gonna have to buy and try out myself, hopefully the spin wont be to bad haha

I got Megabit Jrs, and 295 BFG KDW NTs..................Hooks fine, minor spin at lqunch, claws at the top of 1st, and the 1-2 shift is pretty nasty, little squirly. You will love them. Havnt been to the track yet, but on the street they should be good with a nitto and 315.

we were both debating 3.73 or 4.10 a a few threads ago, i was also concerned about traction, but am upgrading to som 315's later on as well. well i decided to go with the 4.10's and wow!!!!! best mod i have done so far besides the tuner. im still breaking them in im at about 250 miles did 4 heat cycles. i think ur supposed to do about 300 miles. anyways I havent really punched it yet but i can def tell a hige differance. I punched it in second to third today just to see what it was like, and man does it accelerate now!! there was no spin and my tires arent the greatest. i would imagine there is gonna be some spin in first but u just gotta change ur driving style up. ease into the gas into first just dont stomp on it right away once u get traction then give her hell. i say 4.10's you wont regret them, i cant wait until i can stomp on it again.
well from what everyone is saying it seems that 4.10's are the way to go...no one here bought a mustang because of there incredible traction haha..if we really wanted that we would all be driving in some freakin wrx's and evos, and none of us here want that haha, jk..im gonna go with the 4.10's so as soon as i get them installed i'll let you all know what i think but im sure its gonna sound like the rest of you with saying it was one of the best mods you have ever done..i cant wait!

Personally I'd go 3.73's in a stick, 4.10's in an auto, but if you're getting the gears for free, go for it. I have some bad traction issues with 3.73's but I've done quite a bit of mods. 1st gear is FUN, but hard to put to the ground, second and third are like a rocket even with second spinning a third of the way through. Third doesn't have much of a problem unless I power shift, then it lights em up, never done more than barked 4th hard.

just get good tires. the nittos are nice. i have 4.10s with bf-g's and my car really doesnt spin unless i make it spin. i dont know if its just my clutch going bad but i can barely bark the tires from 1st to 2nd.
thanks for the info..im glad to have gotten so many opinions from different people, and especially from peoople who actually know waht their talking about! haha...so thanks alot guys, cant wait to get them installed, i feel confident with them now
