Default LCA removal issue...

I'm 'trying' to install my new lca, and have run into a issue. The factory bushing's metal sleeve separated. I was going to pick up new hardware last week, but working nights and sleeping all day, it's kind of hard to get things done. I'm wondering if there is a easy way out. I can't reach the sleeve with vise grips, everytime I try heat I get a nice little rubber fire. Penetrating fluid is doing nothing.... And the BFH theory only works if you have more room to work with.

I'm pretty sure I have to alternative... 1. Get new hardware, and cut the old bolts off... 2. cut the control arm off and try to free the old hardware up, just so I can get the job done today and replace with new hardware when it arrives.

On a side note, the sleeves on the bushing nearest the shock, rear, and the ones towards the front, are both seized. Which is making this a b*tch of a install.

Any other ideas?

if your installing new lower arms, why are you worried about the old bushings that are on the car now, you dont reuse them....are you just trying to remove the bolts? is the suspension/chassis loaded or unloaded?

I'm not worried about the old bushings... Their fubar'd anyways... It was the bolts that I was trying to get out. I tried with the car in the air, jack stands on the frame... and I tried with the jack under the control arm... The bolt seized into the sleeve of the bushing and I can't get the bolt out. That's my issue.

I kinda gave up anyways... I'm going to get new bolts from Ford Tuesday and just cut the bolts out. Kinda lost my patience... lol

ok, make sure you get the right bolts as 1999 up use 14mm bolts on the lower arms and 1998 back use a smaller 12mm bolt
