ok, so i have a friend with an sti. and i have a 2001 GT. we have been depating who would win about a half mile race. i agree the sti will take me off the line. but with it being a 4banger idk about top end. i feel sti's are over rated, but they are pretty potent

just wondering about sum stats. anyone know any stock vs. stock 1/4 mile times for both?

sadly, my GT is an auto.......only thing the dealer had at the time and it wasnt really planned out to drive home in a newer stang at age 16 so i just took what i could get i guess

Sorry to disapoint you but your going to have a really hard time keeping up with an STI stock for stock, also your an auto which is going to hurt you even more. Your probably making around 220-230 at the wheel .Hes probably making around 240-250 at the wheel hes about 400 lighter and has a huge launch advantage being AWD

That would be a drivers race. The cars are pretty close to equal(maybe a little less rwhp for the auto). When my car was stock I took it to the 1/8 mi track and there was an 02 GT stock with an auto and we were running about the same times.
And yeh The STI would win. Got beat by one last year, not sure if it was stock but im lookin for a rematch

He's going to beat you(unless he can't drive) You have a better chance racing from a roll than a dig so you take away his AWD advantage

Man i hate to say it but i also think he may get ya. You have a chance though, anything could happen. Those cars are quick for what they are and like mentioned above the damn AWD. Good luck though.

could probubly find alot of cars that are a hair faster than your car on paper.
im sure some like me refrain from giving you pointers as at 16 its not desireable for me to have you on the street contemplating high speed runs against another 16 year old, both with the ink still wet on your first drivers licenses. im sure your urge will overcome your sense as it happens to us all. i pray you take it to a empty stretch of road and avoid traffic areas with side streets.

all that said having a mustang GT at your age is a sweet deal. enjoy it

ps i dont understand why it would be taboo to mod the gt stang against the sti a bit. for crying out loud thing has stock mods that put it up there with the stock stuff you find under the hood of a svt cobra. so i say throw on some mods and open a can of whoopass on that funny lookin fwd 4 banger wannabe.

hey man i just race an 07 gti and killed it, well not kill but did beat it. so there is hope. but i think something might have been wrong with his car. all my mods are at the bottom. and yeah be carefull all i have to say

ive been driving since i was like.......10. i lived out in the middle of NOWERE till i was 16. then i moved. and then got the stang. haha....sumtimes i miss back road gravel drifting in a POS beater not caring what happened to it.


and im not 16. im 17. we got it when i was 16. god i wish it was a 5 speed. haha. yea.....i lost......not bad though we estimated about 1/4 mile and he got me off the line and i pulled on him all the way up after about 30 ish. i lost by about 1 1/2 cars. i think thats pretty good for 300hp vs 260hp.

I am actually surprised that you didn't loose by a lot more. A stock STi will run about 108 to 110 mph in the quarter. You my friend stock are 97-99 mph if you are lucky.

depends on what setup you want like with a full exhaust like headers, mid pipe, and then cat back it could cost a pretty penny but if you just want a cat back then i would say a few hundred
