In the city I get anywhere from 250 to 300 miles depending on how I drive, on the highway I usually get 340 miles. The way you drive, tire pressure, and number of other factors have a huge impact on mileage.

There's nothing wrong with staying in 4th at 2200rpm, 5th gear won't make much difference and real low rpm in 5th can hurt the tranny. You might need new O2 sensors or clean the air filter, with those mods you should do better on fuel, bad mileage usually suggests a spark problem or bad O2, and the msd stuff with those wires should be more than enough unless the wires have gone bad or the plug gap is way off.

Could the custom tune be most affecting how rich my car runs, or is it more likely an 02 sensor or spark plugs? I still have PLENTY of power if i ever need to step on it, but it runs extremely rich when I'm not.

Tuners almost always add power by leaning the mixture a bit and altering the timing curve. I would look at the O2 sensors, search for vacuum leaks, and look at the ignition parts, air filter, tire pressure, etc. A custom (dyno) tune is usually a bit richer than absolutely necessary for safety's sake, but don't lean it out, its usually not gonna change mileage much and prevents damage, I'd look at the above stuff and go from there.

Most of my driving is highway, and I still only get about 245 per tank. Do you guys downshift to 4th when passing people or just keep it in 5th?
Ive heard of stockish GT's only averaging 15mpg for some reason while msot others are 17-23mpg or w/e. I dunno why this is, driving habbits maybe? But this average i get is also with my somewhat of a lead foot, so i would thing your n/a GT should be getting a lot better than 15mpg.

I must be around there 250-275 a tank I would guess...Do I drive like an idiot? no I drive it like a mustang. it would not be fun any other way. i've tried feathering it and using 5th as much as possible, but to be honest whats the point if I wanted something better on gas I would have never chosen a Mustang.....So I say screw gas mileage! Leave that to those little rice burners..LOL
Kennebell I can't believe your gas mileage is that good with a supercharger! Now i have to get one!! Hey with all taht power you must be driving in 5th gear everywhere.

I dunno, my gas mileage went down a lot after the supercharger. With just exhaust, cai, tune and even 3.73 gears i was closer to 20mpg city. I went down anywhere from 5-8mpg depending on driving conditions and how heavy my foot gets. Although on KB's website i believe it says improve gas mileage.

97 Cobra, CAI, Flowmasters.

I get about 180-200 miles/tank. My foot is in it a lot. Can probably get 250/tank if I drive it like an old lady but I don't ever do that.(Unless the cops are around)

This makes me sad. I love your GT. I had an 01 GT with similar mods, (I was rear ended totaled out) Getting rid of that car was the worst thing that ever happend to me lol . I now have a VR6 Jetta GLX, which is nice, but it ges about the same my GT would get on mpg's. I average 20 in the city 25 hwy with the jetta. And I got 18 city, 27 hwy. So its really a wash between the two. The best I ever got on the GT was 31.4 hwy.
