i am thinking about maybe trading or selling my 99 mustang gt i just got about a year ago next summer or fall to get a 87-93 5.0 because i was looking and it also it alot cheaper on insurance and i heard you can get them faster for cheaper anyone have any opinions about this?
well its mostly the matter of money because with school its alot of money with paying around 4 grand a year for insurance and i got a online quote for around 1500 for a fox body so if i investigate more and find that to be try and save that much to use both for school and my car would it be worth it?
If you're hurting for money, I don't really see why you bought a sports car to begin with. If you need to save cash just buy a beater. Aftermarket parts for the 5.0's are cheaper, however, I'm not convinced it would be worth your time to trade out and risk not liking the car instead of sticking with what you have. Also, what's the point of trying to save money by switching to an older car if you are going to spend the money making the other car faster. Some of the other variables you need to look at is the condition of your vehicle vs. what you'd be buying. These 99's are considered somewhat old, and break down from time to time; buying a car almost 20 years old might prove to cause more issues. Generally the older the car is, the greater likeliness of it having problems... Either way, it's going to a compromise.

yea i was just a little frustrated with the progress i have been making with it or lack of i guess i gota get on finding a good paying job then so i can have more extra money
yea beside our year my next favorite style is the fox body but i guess ill just find a junked one in a couple of years and restore it that would be the best way to go and keep mine
At this stage if you going to school and and paying 4k a year for insurance I would go with a 5.0. That's 2.5k a year you could put into your fox body and be faster than your 99 GT. On the plus side too is that the fox body parts are cheap

I would get rid of the 99 get a beater and once your done with school find something worth your time and money. Unless your in High School, then I would recommend finishing college first. Regardless if you have a 99 or a Fox....if you don't finish your education and get a good paying job, you will slave to keep your car...and insurance up to standards.
I would shop around for different insurance. But that is the reason why I got rid of my 02 GT... I pay $1304 a year now compared to about $4000 a year with the GT... I also have triple the coverage now for a third of the price!!!
The Foxes are cheap as far as insurance, plus you can find a nice one with some bolt ons for around 5k. My dad got an 88 vert, 5.0 5 speed for 4800. Had 40k miles and a rebuilt engine, so it is a great car (wiring is a little iffy though, just need to find the shorts but no time).
Anyway, I would say find one, drive it and see if you like it. If you do, go for it! If not, dont. That simple.
