Question 2002 Mustang clutch grinding

I have a 2002 Mustang Convertable(Manual) It has started grinding when I press in the clutch. I was told that to replace the clutch you had to remove the transmission. Now I am told it sounds like the throw out bearing for the clutch plate. Has anyone heard of this? I need any help anyone wants to give. I am all ears..

Thanks Robin

well, a better discription of the noise would be best as clutches Dont grind, transmissions do....
so does the grinding occur when your putting the shifter into a gear or
a bad TOB will make a high-pitch squeeling noise, which will usally go away once you start to depress the clutch pedal...

how many miles on the car

Default Noise from clutch

The best way I know how to describe it is, its the same sound your brakes make when there is no pad left. Metal on metal.

it has 85000 miles. Its when you push in the clutch. stops when you release it.

No I bought the car from a dealership. I have had it just about 5 years. My ex normally does all of my work on my car but since he doesn't have a lift for pulling the transmission. He said he wouldn't be able to do it. So I called the Ford dealership, they said it would be around 1300.00.

It is to replace or fix all parts associated with the clutch. So yes it does include resurfaceing the clutch.
